Watch a dynamic lion dance performance or perhaps some Chinese acrobatics...

Really enjoyed the show, we saw "Bottomless Pit" performed by the Taipei Li-Yuan Peking Opera Theatre. The show is in Chinese but there are screens either side of the stage with translations, English included. After the performance you can have pictures with the actors, which is great because the costumes are amazing! Highly recommend it!

Book first before you visit the venue. When I visited the show, I couldn't see a free seat around, so this show is quite popular among tourist. They provide 15% discount if you are student, or using certain credit card (citibank in my case). You might want to get here earlier, I manage to get the center area right beside VIP row. Once you secured the seat, then you have plenty of time to see around of "pre-visit show". Including photo session using traditional costume, traditional music performance, etc.The only minor poiint from my visit is they were given us a wrong paper of show description. The show is Sun Wu Kong, while they were distributing a Pai Su Chen (Legend of White Snake).

Really great to see a true Beijing opera. The performers were all excellent and the costumes fantastic. Don't miss this

This was a must for me visiting Taipei. I really enjoyed the interaction with the customers before the show. You can see some ofthe cast applying their makeup. Another is playing music. And photo opportunity for free. They also had some souvenir available. The overall show was fantastic. The show had everything from comedy to martial arts display, dancing. I couldnt have asked for nothing better.

The content of the shows changes - during our visit it was "The Joys of Peking Opera" which gave us a good introduction (watered down a little bit to accommodate Western tastes) of Chinese opera, although it did include that high pitched squeaky singing!. We bought the tickets in the afternoon and arrived a little early at 8.10pm to choose our seats as these cannot be pre-reserved. It is a small modern theatre on the third floor with no "bad" seat in the house. We were given a pamphlet in English explaining the opera which gave cause for concern, because having read it we had absolutely no idea what it meant. Once the opera got underway however, the story was reasonably easy to follow, and there was a running English explanation displayed on the side screen. The performance was superb ... passionate displays by the actors accompanied by great music and excellent dancing. At 70 minutes the length was just right and we got to meet & take photos with the actors once the performance was over.

As a new expat to TaiPei I was surprised that I seemed to be the only expat who was aware of it's existence! Nonetheless my roommate and I went to the Saturday night performance mostly unsure of what to expect. It was wildly entertaining! As expats living in Asia we've seen our fair share of Chinese lion dances. This one was hands down the best. It was funny, impressive, acrobatic an awe-inspiring. The second show had brilliant costuming and stunts. Taipei eye has done a great job taking a traditional storyline an jazzing it up with costumes and stunts. I would recommend it to people of all ages and definitely to any expats who have family coming to visit.

the show si divided in two parts. one is traditional taiwanese tribe dance and second is chinese opera. both shows are soooo goood you will spend great time. i do not want to unveil much. you just have to go and to see it when in taipei. i absolutely loved it! its a big wow for me! amazing cultural experience! remember to be there 15 min before so you can find better seats. if you want some drinks other than water you should buy them before getting to the show.

Oftentimes you've seen one of these shows, then you've seen them all, but this show still had some surprises. There were many amazing acrobatic feats, and the Beijing opera after intermission was not at all earsplitting, but instead very enjoyable and easy to follow. The story was fun, the costumes were well done, and it was a great time.

Taipei eye is a modestly priced evening event, ($550 NTD.) reservations are not required. But we went during the slow season. Reservations can be made on their website. This year Some of the performers were in the foyer putting on their makeup make for the visitors. (They were not doing this in 2013 when we were there.). We were able to pose with one of the stars for photos. Taipei eye is not a formal opera like the NY Metropolitan. You can take non flash pictures during the performance. Unlike western operas these operas contain wonderful acrobatics. The music is live yet modest. The costumes and makeup are beautiful. Above the stare is a screen with English sur-titles so you can follow the story. I highly recommend this event.
