You only get one free sample at the beginning. The guides are very fun and informative. The bar at the end could be the highlight. The house is well preserved and picturesque. This was incorporated into a nice walk to other sites nearby

The distillery tour is done in 10 minutes ending in their shop and bar. Sort of a non-event. The rum however is fairly good, but a little over priced. At the bar you can try the distillery's three rums for $6.

We took the 10 minute guided tour. The tour guide was very interactive with the group, but bordered on being inappropriate. Found out they used this building for 2 James Bond movies: Thunderball and Casino Royale (how cool!). At the end of the tour, you can buy bottles of their rum. They also have a tasting room/bar with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating.

On your own tour of a very small distillery and at the end pay $6 for a flight of 3 different rums made there which are very strong. We could finish them and had them add some pineapple juice to the shot which was delicious. Try the pina colada or the banana daiquiri. They are now making Red Turtle Vodka which we bought.

Know for what you go; is the most important theme of this review. The Distillery is nicely made and every thing feel very new. There is basically no tour; there are some paintings, then there is a shed where they keep and make the rum. For show they put a table with 3 people, putting the etiquettes on the bottles. Back inside the main building you can then buy the bottles (apparently cheaper at the airport) and then comes the highlight: the bar.You can do a rum tasting and they have freshly made cocktails which taste delicious. It is just a nice little hour doing something and you can even walk there from Downtown. It's nothing more, nothing less.

We had a very pleasant tour guide (if you can call them that). It's a 7-9 minute free "tour," leading you to their store. Buy the booze at the airport. It was $20 cheaper per bottle at the airport compared to their store.

We were a little disappointed with this. Good thing it was free for the tour. There are a few pictures and plaques to read on the wall. There isn't much to see in the distillary area. There is some reading and points of interst here but you can do this all in 15 minutes. The rum sample at the end was very small. Approx 1/2 oz mixed. If you are only in Nassau for a few hours, you can pick a much better tour.We were in Nassau for 7 weeks and finally went here on our last week.

We visited the distillery while in port during a February cruise. The distillery is a bit of a walk from the pier, but convenient to the Cathedral, the Junkanoo Museum, and other sites along the way.The grounds are well-kept and attractive. The self-guided tour is free. The tour begins in the main house, which serves as the offices and a small museum for the distillery, and also hosts a tasting room, which is entered from the back at the end of the tour. You can bypass the tour and go straight to the tasting room, if desired. The tour could be better marked. I assume we saw it all, but there were few arrows marking the route. On the day we were there (A Friday afternoon), there were few employees about. In fact, we saw only one during the tour, the majority of those we met were working in the tasting room and the gift shop. The tour leads through the small museum on the left side of the main house and into the courtyard behind. There, stairs lead down from the extensive rear porch to the courtyard. A few outbuildings and a water tower are visible from the porch, but do not appear to be part of the tour. That is, there are no signs pointing to them nor informational boards nearby, as far as we could see. There is a large building directly across the courtyard which houses the process facilities and the aging room. A hand-cut well in front of the building is denoted by an informational plaque. Beside the well, a gate leads to the entrance to the aging room. A sign outside advises that flash photos are prohibited due to explosive vapours. The process facilities and aging room are viewed form a balcony overlooking them. The balcony provides a good view of the room below while keeping the tour guests out of the way of production. When we toured, there was no one visible within the process facilities. Informational placards provide information about the production and aging of the rum. The explosive vapours are from the "Angels' share", rum that leaches through the barrels and evaporates within the building. The "Angels' share" provides a pleasant aroma within the building.Leaving the production and aging facility, we again crossed the courtyard to the tasting room. Tastings are not free. A small fee ($6, US, if I remember correctly) gets one three glasses of rum: one newly produced, one three-year-old, and one five-year-old, along with a glass of water. The portions are not stingy. The rum is quite good. Rum is available in the gift shop, along with a small number of non-liquid souvenirs.

This is a cute little distillery right in the heart of the city. Area around it is a bit rough, but the grounds here are impeccable! Very quiet when we were there. No one around except two employees. We took a taxi there with three other couples. We had the whole place to ourselves and enjoyed taking a ton of pictures there. You can have drinks, or samples, or buy bottles if you'd like. None of us were drinkers, but we still enjoyed looking around. As we were preparing to leave, we noticed a small (blue and white) sign in the front yard. We asked our driver about it and he told us that the distillery has been used in at least one James Bond movie. The sign was put in the "exact spot where Bond landed after jumping over the fence". Of course we had to snap a few pictures, just because!Anyway, it was a different area of town and was a fun ride...and a bit nostalgic. It was part of a city tour we took and I am glad we made it out this way. (Though we didn't buy anything here, our "cabbie" stopped at a local bakery and I couldn't resist temptation there. I bought not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR rum cakes to take home. Had part of one this morning for breakfast. YUMMY!!!! I don't even like rum but I loved that cake!)

The distillery is in not the nicest part of town, but we didn't have any problems walking there and back. The distillery is a beautiful old house that has been 100% restored. It is gorgeous. The tour is self guided, but you are greeted by the employees in traditional attire and a pina colada sample. From what I gather from the tour, the distillery is named after a notorious character in Bahamian culture. It was very interesting to see how it was made, and what the process was. I don't drink, but my husband said the rum and the vodka were not that great. We ended up not buying any and getting another Bahamian brand of rum that we had tried before and it was good. TIP:If you do like the Rum, and you want to buy some to take home, there is a small convenience store that is a couple blocks away. It was the only place that we found that actually sold it outside of the distillery. It was $5 cheaper per bottle at the convenience store.

Tour is very short and little interaction. Don't expect any interaction through the tour! Rum is very over priced however the bar is great to enjoy a drink

We sought out the 'distillery' as an excursion our recent cruise. We walked from the cruise terminal, through some very sketchy areas (the US state dept. has issued a travel warning for The Bahamas). The tour consists of a short walk through a warehouse filled with what appear to be props. There was no still, no vats of fermenting cane, no bottling line just a stack of barrels and a couple of steel tanks which were unconnected to anything. In the warehouse 2 women hand-labeled bottles as they were being unpacked from a carton already filled. The tour started with a five minute speech on which movies the house had been in and how the guide was going to get everyone completely drunk, the remainder of the tour lasts around 5 minutes more and naturally ends at the gift shop where you can purchase rum for $50+ per bottle. We tasted a flight of rum at the bar and walked back to the ship. Total round trip time was under an hour.Everyone was nice, but the tour is quite underwhelming, especially since there is no working distillery at this location. I suppose you get what you pay for, but I wouldn't suggest the uphill walk from the dock unless you are really starved for something to do.The free samples consisted of a tiny cup filled with pina colada.

Beautiful grounds and restored premises with clean, new additions. Had delicious strawberry daiquiri. Excellent tour guide, funny in a Chris Rock way. Two Bond films filmed here. Very tasteful. This was on our tour from our cruise ship, but a nice surprise.

This is a short trip but well worth doing. Not only the best rum I've tasted but if your a James Bond fan like I am you will enjoy the fact it has been used in two bond movies. The guide really made the visit. Buy two bottles (one doesn't last long) it is a lot more expensive at the air port.
