An Icon on our Tasmanian holiday. We had been looking forward to our visit with anticipation, since first learning of this Spectacular Wall Carving, some years back. We were not disappointed and found the large Huon Pine panels depicting sections of Tasmania’s early pioneering history absolutely breathtaking. The detail and quality of the workmanship is truly amazing, with the cravings looking very realistic. The Entry Fee was only $12, which we consider fair and much cheaper than many other attraction’s. We also bought the book, a beautiful presentation which gave us all the Carvings with detail, so the ban on photos was not an issue and is very understandable.

The Wall was recommended to us and we are so pleased we went the distance to visit. It is a unique work in progress, showing aspects of Tasmania's history through intricate carvings along the wall of huon pine panels! Although a 'work in progress', this doesn't detract from the experience. In fact it adds to it, as you see the process the sculptor uses. I just wanted to feel it, (but of course I couldn't) particularly the cricket hat and gloves. You'd swear they were real leather! Outstanding!

The Wall is an absolute MUST when in the area, or even when not.....The Wall is an ambitious endeavour of one individual - Greg Duncan - and is amazing!!Photography is not allowed, so all I can provide is a brief description. The Wall is a beautiful work of art of a gigantic scale. Greg Duncan had a vision to carve in wood a 100 Meter long wall that tells the story of Tasmanian early settlers. The Wall is still a work in progress, but it is nearing completion and there are many sections that have already been completed. The woodwork in fantastic and the level of detail and accuracy are mind boggling!!Humans and animals are very lifelike and breathtaking. The Wall was a huge surprise for us. We had no idea what we were in for and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. There is an entrance fee that keeps the project running and is worth every penny!!Hats off to Greg Duncan!! Keep up the amazing work you are doing!!Definitely a MUST on any Tasmania trip itinerary!!!

This is one of the best places I have seen for awhile. The carvings are lifelike and should not be missed. It is off the Highway but signs show you.I walked 1.5 kilometres along the Highway from the Hotel i stayed at. Busy little place now with all the travellers and backpackers having a look. Entrance fee is $12 adults but should not be missed as so great. Takes about 30 minutes to view.Souvenirs available no photos allowed.

This is a very unique attraction and is worth a visit, if you want to break up the drive from Hobart to Queenstown. A word of warning though, it's $12 to visit per adult to see an unfinished project. The guy that is doing the carving is self funding the project so all funds go to completion of the project. Unfortunately you cannot take photos because the proprietor believes this would effect his endeavours to raise funds. I have visited the Crazy Horse sculpture in the Black Hills of South Dakota where photography of the sculpture is encouraged it is also self funded and the people involved believe photography encourages public knowledge and visitors to their venture. The people at the wall could learn from the Crazy horse venture.

Don't want to say too much as it will spoil the surprise but go and see it while it is still a work in progress. While the whole will be awesome, now you can only be blown away by the pain staking process to bring it to life. Very special, don't miss it.

This place is so unexpected. 30 minutes of interesting work to view. Worth the stop as we have never seen anything like.

The Wall is very interesting but for me I couldn't recommend it to anyone visiting Tasmania unless they are an art enthusiast. My husband is, so it was worth going for us.

A wonderful place, and i can understand why you cannot take photos but whe you buy th book you expect it to have all the photos of the wall and when i got home and discovered it only had hakf was a little disappointed. Other than that it is remarkable, we were on a Scenic Tour and our deiver said this would be his pick of our around Tasmania tour and he was right.

The wall is an ongoing wooden sculpture in relief, housed inside a contemporary building in the forest. It tells the story of early settlers and the carving is amazing to look at. It would have been nice to have recognised the aborigines but that doesn't detract from the impressive impact it makes
