Just love this little beach. Never too crowded, looks over the rip, is in a gorgeous little town and has a great promenade walk.

I love trekking out to the Point Lonsdale beach and sea wall area because I find it is a pleasant and quieter small town escape. The choice of eateries in town is more limited, but the beach and swimming conditions are very clean and pleasant. Easy access from anywhere on the Bellarine. Well worth a visit and walk along the sea wall.

very little main street features. looked under developed and in need of a re-invigoration. easy acsess to mount Duneed winery for concerts, as well as many other vineyards. The great Ocean road is further on but Torquay and surf shops not too far away. the small town of Queenscliff is 6 km away. many cafe's and shops available there. also the ferry to Sorrento departs and arrives at Queenscliff.

Surrounded by its bigger neighbours this is still a quite seaside little town.its beauty is the continual passing of ships thru the heads as the go to and from Melbourne. There is a small selection of shops but you may have to travel to nearby towns for a larger range of cafes etc

Point Lonsdale is located at the head of Port Phillip Bay, opposite Point Nepean. It has both a bay beach (safe for families with young children) and a surf beach. As yet "Lonnie" has not succumbed to the vagaries of 'the dark side' and continues to be a tranquil and relaxing place to live and visit. For me Lonnie is like coming home I just love it.

Point Lonsdale has the best of all worlds. Surf beach on one side, quiet bay beach on the other and off the main highway. It is close to all Bellarine attractions, great wineries, restaurants, berry farms and other fresh produce and historic Queenscliff with its old trains, boat ramp, marina and ferry to Sorrento. Lots for kids and adults to do. Kids love the back beach rock pools, surfing, and quiet front beach, fishing from the pier, marine biology centre and other attractions. Best to stay where you can park and walk to get a real break and avoid parking issues in summer - see local agents for house rentals or Queenscliff & Coastal that manager many properties in the area (they manage our house).

Yes, it's very very beautiful. We particularly love the lighthouse and the walk down beside it thru the rocks. The rocks are a great climb and so much to find, a beachcomber's dream. I do have pics of this but too many to choose from. It's worth going yourselves just for the day, so that you have time for the lighthouse and a bite to eat at one of the many shops en route to and from the beach. The climb up is a bit tiresome, hard on older knees, but you can drive up too. Down is fun, and the water is lovely. Also, good viewing locations. A nice holiday day out.

Away from the Pier & Front Beach in Lonsdale Pt, you get a nice feeling of solitude. Only locals walking their dogs and more adventurous (and fitter) tourists bother to explore this part of the coastline.

A great beach for little ones to paddle but great for surfers when waves come in. Local eateries provide basics... But some bread make your own sandwiches in various seating areas

Watched the tide go in and out. Safe beach with lots of waves. Great spot to watch the ship traffic move in and out. Hardly anyone on the beach.

Here we are right at The Heads - the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. It is a beautiful beach where you can watch the ships entering and leaving the bay, being escorted by the pilot boats. There is a wide walkway alongside the beach and in the township the small shopping strip with eating places and moderate sized supermarket is just across the road from the beach. From parts of the beach you can see the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and from anywhere along the beach you can see in the distance the two lighthouses at Queenscliff.. Fortunately, even in summer Point Lonsdale is not crowded like some other beaches on the other side of Port Phillip Bay. Just around the cliffs near the lighthouse is the ocean beach. Recently much beautification work has been done in Point Lonsdale and the children's playground which is just above the beach has improved. When the tide is out it is possible to walk on the sand around to the jetty and lighthouse. At the sports ground next to the beach is a monument marking the site from where the first 'Marconi' overseas wireless transmission from Australia was sent by the Governor-General in July 1906. Yes Lonnie beach hits the spot. To kick back and watch ships enter the bay with distant peninsular surrounds is truly bliss! If you want to graze -no probs as several ok restaurants nearby.Sort of place you don't want too meant aware of -be greedy and keep it mums the word!

Point Lonsdale is the perfect place to spend a leisurely day. Start your day off with a visit to the Lighthouse for spectacular views over the beach and pier. Watch the ships going through the heads of the bay (and bring that zoom lens). The lighthouses of Queenscliffe are visible in the distance. The Lighthouse is part of the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park. The beach is perfect for younger kids with small waves and no powerful rips or currents. They can safely play in the water. There is a playground just off to the side of the beach, and also a supermarket right across the road for those "family packs" of ice-creams.
