Right near the port which is at the base of the city. You have to pass the church on the way into the city.

This is a very beautiful old church with a lot of history behind it. We went to Sunday mass with was well attended by tourist and locals alike.

Gustave Eiffel was more known for building bridge and the Eiffel Tower, seeing a church built by the famous French engineer is quite interesting. But the roof structure inside reminds me more of a market hall than a church.

Cathedral - too much in this word for this church. If you are on Arica it is the only building from interest - in my opinion. The cathedral is built on steel from Gustav Eiffel - it needs a few minutes to see it.

This church is right in the main area of Arica, you can look to one side and see the morro, look to the other side and see the water. The church is right in the middle and the detail on the outside is amazing. We took a few minutes inside and it is very pretty; not the most majestic on the inside, but nice.

This church stands on a slight hill and dominates the area. From the outside it looked quite impressive with excellent coloured panels and intricate detail on the towers. The church clearly shows the influence of Eifel (he of the tower in Paris) with a great use of iron. Inside is more plain and not particularly ornate. Outside to the right is a small outside "chapel" dedicated as a Lourdes grotto.

What makes this church so interesting is that it is not heavily guilded as you might find in other churches in South America. Perhaps that is because of Eiffels design. I am not sure, but make a trip to see it inside.

Not much of one for churches etc but this was worth a visit. Whole place is made of Iron and by Mr Eiffel :)

Very colorful, nice architecture. Was not able to go in, no service offered at that precise moment. Beautiful from the outside.

being accustomed to the luxury and exuberance of Peruvian churches even in the most remote town of the Andes, this place is lacking by comparison. peaked ceilings, minimal decoration, a bit worn down. go here if you'd like to contemplate comparative religious practices as they intersect with national identity (peruvian versus chilean). otherwise, snap a photo of the outside, peek inside, and that should be enough

We were recently in Arica as a port city for a cruise. We contacted Andean Duncan Tours and set up a full day excursion. The tour took us all over Arica and the neighboring valleys. The tour was with a small group (6) and was only $70 US/person. I would suggest going to their website and get a full description of their "All Day Tour" for cruise passengers for details. For lunch we went to a very local restaurant $12 US and the food was super! Enjoy!

Muito bonita essa catedral, arquitetura impecável. Parece uma maquete em tamanho real hahah. E a praça na qual ela se encontra é muito bonita também.

La catedral se ve muy antigua y descuidada, dicen que se ha deteriorado por el terremoto que sufrió Chile hace algunos años, debería sacarse más provecho a esta catedral, ya que se encuentra cerca al morro, en plena plaza y cerca a lugares turísticos de interés de Arica, como es la avenida 21 de mayo y el puerto.

Schöne kleine Kirche, entworfen von Gustave Eiffel, in seinen Werkstätten gebaut und mit dem Schiff hierher gebracht und aufgebaut... man hatte es ja, als Salpeter-Nation. Die typischen Eiffel-Rundbögen und Abstützung sind gut zu sehen, seine Muster setzen sich in den Holzarbeiten fort.In der Kirche steht noch die Glocke der alten, durch ein Erdbeben zerstörte Kirche, die über 1 t wiegt und lange versteckt gehalten wurde.
