This place is very interesting for adult and children.im all ages. The Vikingecenter have many working Places, where you can see the "history" in real and you can try some thing in the big aerea.Is for aal people, but a Little expensive.

There were many interesting buildings to see but the staff was unfriendly. There were people dressed as Viking Era people in the buildings but they seemed to mostly avoid contact with us and I got the impression that they were bored to be there. There was also a possibility to try some Viking activities such as whittling, but when my sons tried that, the staff only gave us the tools when we asked and no advice about what to do. On the positive side the area is quite large and there are many animals there as well. There was also a marketplace where some Viking style handmade jewellery was produced and sold. I missed introduction to the Viking Era - why not combine a museum and this place so people could see some real Viking era archeological discoveries as well. There would have been a museum in Ribe but we did not have time to go there.

Loved this attraction. Very chilled but lots of bits to see. Don't miss the displays especially bird of prey.

Kids (12 and 8) LOVED IT. Small but fun play area. Clean and lovely cafe. Actors walking round like real Vikings. Archery lessons. Coin minting. Stick whittling. Farm animals to handle. Can't recommend it enough.

Very pleasant with children. They can participate in activities like archery. Especially in summer holidays, there is quite some activity going on.

Just love the Viking Centre! It is so nice the way people are dressed up in Viking clothes and act the Whole situation out!

I though it would be a few hours' visit but we ended up staying for five hrs. There was a good variety of hands-on activities for children. It's always nice to visit a place where it's ok to touch and feel. The visit would have been even more exciting without language barriers. Many of the viking volunteers spoke only Danish and we tried to communicate in Swedish which is a bit cumbersome.

An excellent way to learn more about the Vikings and their way of life. The centre is a very short distance to the south of Ribe with a reasonable entry fee for what you get. Entrance is through the shop, English spoken, which has an excellent selection ranging from academic books, through mead and local beer to jewellery and children's toys, including all they would need to go a'viking. The centre is a 'living village' with buildings constructed according to local archeological findings and using techniques and technology of the time. They are staffed by a multi-national company of volunteers who live at the centre in as an authentic way as they can. They are very willing to discuss their crafts, and we learnt a lot from the blacksmith, a seamstress and the bow-maker. There are activities such as archery, learning to use woodworking tools and a falconry display. The falconer was informative in a bi-lingual talk and tried to give as many children as possible a go wearing the gauntlet for one of the birds to land on. We saw a melee, but didn't get round to trying the cafe. Children were loving it, allow 3 hours for a visit or more

We were on our way to our bed and breakfast and found Ribe and the viking center. It is an actual working village with people taking care of the animals, showing how the ancient vikings lived and survived. Lots of interactive activities including woodworking ,bow and arrow competitions, games, etc. They have created a actual village based on the writings and findings in Ribe. So the layout is as close as it was 1000 years ago. You could spend a full day there based on the activity times and interacting with the people there. We spent only a few hours and were able to see all the buildings and exhibits and even try a game. This a place worth a visit if you have an interest in how ancient cultures lived and survived.

This Viking Centre is actually a farm running in the old style with actors(students and locals) doing the actual chores and cooking authentic types of dishes on wood fires etc. Spent a few very interesting hours wandering around the farm. Well worth the entrance fee.

We spent all our money at the museum shop, so we didn't get to see all the rest. But it was worth it: gorgeous animal furs, wooden tableware, Viking jewelry, salt with local herbs, organic jams, knives and toys for the kids. Everything you need to equip a wannabe Viking - or just a Viking!

A well planned museum with displays covering the Viking history. Exhibits cover history of Vikings and medieval civilisation in in the region from around 700AD to 1500AD. Many of the displays are trilingual - Danish, German, English (as is the website) and several offer interaction opportunities. A great many artefacts are on display, particularly local artefacts relating to the market settlement in the local area, which formed a trading hub. There was quite enough to occupy small children and adults, it is well designed to engage interest. If you are the least bit interested in history then this one is highly recommended. Of course, there is the town itself too - a historic and picturesque gem not to be missed in any visit to Denmark!

As a person who enjoys learning about the history of the Danes I was very please to find out most all of the main exhibits were in English. Very worthwhile stop and extremely helpful staff.
