The building is a little far away from the center, and not well-known. It is next to the Danube in a new area of the city with modern office buildings and a nice garden along the river. It is definitively worth walk in the area and visit the various museums and buildings there.

This great music hall has probably one of the best acoustics in Central Europe. You have perfect view from every seat, and your can hear every sound perfectly wherever you sit (even the last row of the 3rd balcony. Free parking during performances and easy access by tram. The programs include classical concerts, operas, and jazz, performed by the finest artist of all over the world. And much more, e.g. Met performances in HD etc.visit www.mupa.hu for english program and online tickets. A must for lovers of music. The Ludwig Museum is in the same building.

We visited the Stravinsky marathon in the Palace of Arts. Arriving early to a concert has a great advantage: you can walk around in the inside of "Müpa" checking the interior architecture that is a bit mixed, but it has very nice things to show, so it is highly recommended! We were in the Bartók Hall, where the seats are a bit uncomfortbale to me compared to the size and fame of the place. But the interior of the hall is beautiful! Parking is well organized (we were visiting a few occasions earlier as well) and free with the concert tickets. You can also check out the xhibitions for free with a valid ticket. There is a restaurant in the building, haven't tried it yet, looks nice from the outside.

Delicious meals, good wine, friendly service in a stylish restaurant in a wonderful concert venue. The salads are outstanding, the meals are carefully prepared. Only the background music should be taken care of: it's Santana on repeat for at least 2 days... A restaurant of this high-class, does not need muzak in the 1st place, and if music must sound, please play some great Hungarian music!

We went to see the Boban i Marcovich band at the Bela Bartok theatre and we were bowled over by the textures and design of the building. The exterior was quite brutalist, but inside it was a wealth of sharp design and textural contrast. The theatre itself was brilliant and we had a great view of the stage from the left hand balcony. I would think that the view from any seat in the house would be good as there were no viewing limiters. The sound was excellent and the staff was hospitable. Highly recommended. TIP: If you have a ticket to see a show at the theatre, you can get into the Ludwig Museum in the same building to see the exhibitions for FREE on that day.

Müpa really surprised us on our first day in Budapest. Located away from the immediate centre of Budapest, it was also different from other historical buildings in Budapest (of course, it is rather a new building). Modern design, lots of space to get lost in it. I really enjoyed the fact that, when we entered, we did not get stared at by clerks, like for example in the Franz Liszt Academy (there was a show in that time, so maybe they were a bit edgy). You can kind of wander around in the big building and relax, maybe visit a bookshop, have a drink, or some other thing, we did not have time to do.We especially enjoyed the concert in the main Concert hall. I was lucky to get two of the last three tickets the night before the concert, thinking that I probably got bad floor seats for a very reasonable amount (probably some cancellation and I was looking for tickets at the right time, cannot explain it otherwise). I was mistaken. I don't think there is a bad seat in the hall, as you can see everything from probably everywhere. Sound was great. In the first part, we listened to a child choir and an adult choir, and the second part, the orchestra took the main stage. Orchestra performed great, and the conductor was very amusing and amazing to watch for somebody who does not go to classical concerts, but will, from now on.

I just attended a performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (Ballet). The performance itself was very low budget. Set looked like it was designed by a high school drama club. Dancing was sloppy, poorly synchronized. Among the cast there were a few good dancers, but lost to bizarre choreography. The costumes looked like an afterthought-- Puck is a dead ringer for the Joker of Batman. Helena and Hermia wear the same dress and look nearly identical, making it difficult to follow their love triangle. Upon arriving at the theater I needed to collect my tickets, and was sent up and down stairs repeatedly by the staff who seemed not to know what was going on. At intermission, there is a concession stand located directly in front of the theater entrance. While trying to exit at intermission and use the restroom, I was unable to move past the throng of people in line for concessions. Excusing myself and pushing past, a young girl pointed at something and slapped me in the face, nearly poking me in the eye. In such a large venue, it doesn't make sense that patrons are unable to exit the theater due to the concessions line blocking the entrance. Everything about this place seems poorly run, from stage direction to general operations.

This building is really stunning and Baroque in design. We took plenty of photos from every angle. There was a Rembrandt exhibition on when we were there. Needless to say the artwork is amazing. Just to marvel at the architecture was enough for my husband - who took the pictures !

Palace of Arts is the symbol of high quality culture in Hungary. The bulding itself is worth to see, it's one of the most modern builidng in the city with colorful lights in the night. Bartók Béla National Concert Hall, Festival Theatre and Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art give place to outstanding performances and exhibitions. Beside these there's a nice coffe, a restaurant and a bookstore where you can be lost in admiration of beautiful art albums or just get some special souvenirs or gifts. No matter if you are older or younger, hungarian or foreigner, man or women, modern or classical, poor or rich, family or not, if you are open minden, you can easily find a programme you can enjoy. I've never disappointed in the programmes here and I highly recommend this place to visit.
