    From the outside this look like a charming old wine cellar. Inside the building seems more modern, but has good decor with wooden tables/chairs, a huge wine press, metal rails. Staff are friendly, spoke good english, and were helpful describing menu. Food is ordered at a counter, paid in advance. Excellent meal - only downside was it was busy so hard to move around and quite a long wait to get the food.

    Great location in the centre of town, nice atmosphere inside with a pleasant garden terrace and young and friendly staff. However they need to review the service and organisation-every time you ordered a glass of wine you had to pay for it, no chance to tot up each glass and pay at the end-this is the 1st time I've encountered this in Germany and it must put people off keep having to go back to pay each time, and its all self-service, no waitress service-not good for a leisurely nite out with your partner as you spend more time at the counter than with her. Food was poor. We ordered Handkase mit musik, a very German dish typical in a wine region and it was straight out of a packet, and not served with marinated onions just pieces of chopped dried onion. The zwiebelkuchen (onion cake) was too soggy and had lost the crispness in the base. After trying 3 wines I got fed up with queueing and we left. Has the potential to be much better.

    I had an amazing dinner at this weinstubbe and even came back the next day to buy several bottles of the wine I had at dinner the night before. Definately worth a stop.

    Very reasonable price in an attractive location. Service excellent and friendly. You go inside to order and they take it out to your table.

    Plenty of choice in menu and beverages, friendly staff. Situated oposite the Liebfrauenkirche. Inviting by daylight as well in nightlife. Must say though: very busy place so rather noisy in case one intends to converstae with one another (group). In front of this restaurant annex tavern a copy of the Neumagener weinschiff.

    The location was wonderful. Across from Church of our Lady. The wine was great. Had a great menu. I recommend eating here before going out to dinner. Just a gourmet snack and drink. You order inside and bring your flag to your table and the server brings your food. The staff inside will help recommend wines for you. This is a place that you sit for a long time talking or reading.

    Nice, cosy, home-like feel. You order the food at the counter, then it is brought to your table. They make superb herring and potato dishes. Food is filling and tasty, prices are among cheapest in Trier.

    Very pink, outdoor seating, and lots of customers. located oposite the Liebfrauenkirche, outdoor seating with a view over the Domstadt (Freihof). At its exterior a sculpyure: a cpoy, the original can be seen in the Landesmuseum in Trier. 1349–1999. The von Kesselstatt dynasty immigrated to the electorate of Trier in the 14th century. The first documented mention of a vineyard purchase dates from 1349. By 1362, Kuno von Falkenstein, elector of Trier, had employed Johann von Kesselstatt as electoral court marshal, responsible for the cellars and overall housekeeping. In 1394, his son, Friedrich I. von Kesselstatt, was appointed “court sommelier” and placed in charge of the royal vineyards and cellars by Elector Werner von Falkenstein . Emperor Josef II elevated the imperial barons of Keselstatt to the status of Reichsgrafen – imperial counts – in 1776. As chief administrator of Elector Clemens Wenzeslaus of Sachsen-Wettin from 1761 to 1794, Johann Hugo Casimir Graf von Kesselstatt was the highest official in Trier. Four former monasteries of St. Maximin and their vineyard holdings were purchased between 1854 and 1889. These remain the basis of the estate to this day.

    This was a great ending of a perfect day: have a nice glass of local wine with a nice plate of local cheese and sausages in a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Loved the big wine- press in the middle of the establishment.Take your time picking your wine... there's so much to choose from

    Leuke sfeer, lekkere typische streekgerechten, grote keuze uit de plaatselijke wijnen. We hebben hier behoorlijk lekker gegeten tegen zeer betaalbare prijs!

    Im Sommer ist es hier besonders schön: Dann sitzt man sehr ruhig im Garten vor dem Haus und darf beim Weintrinken auf den ältesten Dom Deutschlands und die Liebfrauenkirche schauen. Direkt gegenüber vom Kesselstatt wohnt der Bischof. Alles ist sehr entspannend - auch deswegen, weil der hier servierte Wein natürlich gut bis ausgezeichnet ist. Sogar für Nicht-Weinkenner ist also alles ganz leicht: Man kann eigentlich nichts falsch machen. Wer darauf besteht, bekommt sogar ein Bier. Das Essen ist bodenständig. ordentlich und reichlich. Getränke werden am Tresen geholt, Speisen dort bestellt und später von der Bedienung gebracht. Die Preise sind fair. Im Kesselstatt kann man auch gut mit Kindern sitzen, weil man sich in der Fußgängerzone befindet und Straßenverkehr keine Gefahr ist. Das Kesselstatt ist nicht nur im Sommer schön: Bei schlechtem Wetter wird es drinnen allerdings schnell eng. Ohne Reservierung hat man dann abends allerdings schlechte Karten. Unter dem Strich: Eine der schönsten Weinstuben Triers.

    früh genug vorbuchen in den mittelalterlichen Kellern - am besten Abends - schönes Ambiente mit klasse Weinen - ab 10 Personen und Speisen sogar als Buffet möglich - wir konnten Wein auch einzeln flaschenweise kaufen
