I shot a video of my husband in the Teatro Romano in Benevento and shared it with my sisters. It is amazing that they have a monument like this (so big) in such a small city. My husband also shot a video walking into the arena of the Teatro Romano. We are happy that we visited.

For an entry fee of only 2 euros, you get to see a very well preserved Roman Theater, which is in such good condition that it hosts performances even today. Other sight nearby are the Arch of Trajan, and the Corso Garibaldi (a street without traffic where window shoppers can stroll through). There are some authentic Southern Italian restaurants hidden in the side-streets by the University of Sannio on Corso Garibaldi - just ask any local for their locations.

The Teatro is not a have to see However Benevento has generous public parking areas near downtown. You can see more than the Teatro. Benevento is a very pleasant town to walk around in. The Teatro is about 50% a ruin but is still in use. You can see it without a crowd which makes it more enjoyable than the popular amphitheaters .

It should be a good experience but there was no information and half of it was closed for repairs. Added to this, I was followed around as if I was likely to walk away with a Roman column.

After traveling from the Roman forum, it was nice to be able to explore this entire site with no one around. Sure it's smaller, but so much more up close and personal.

nice old outdoor theatre still in reasonable condition must pay a few eurs each to enter and look around but worth it if your interested in old things

Il teatro, che si trova nel rione Triggi, risale a duemila anni fa, a parte una chiesetta che vi è stata costruita sopra e che non è stata abbattuta come le case al momento dello scavo. Ha una pianta semicircolare del diametro di un centinaio di metri e accoglie ancora spettacoli e manifestazioni che in quello scenario devono apparire molto suggestivi. Noi l'abbiamo visitato in una grigia mattina di dicembre, ma è stato facile immaginare l'effetto che può produrre quando ritorna alla sua funzione. Intorno alle gradinate vi sono ancora ambulacri e sale, e il viale d'accesso è decorato con mascheroni. Meriterebbe una manutenzione più accurata, come tanti tesori architettonici in Italia. La visita è facile, a parte la ricerca di un parcheggio nelle vicinanze, e dura un'oretta. Ma è ben spesa.

ho assistito ad uno spettacolo di Danza in questo luogo meraviglioso avvolto da un'atmosfera magica. Assolutamente tappa fondamentale di Benevento. Unica cosa negativa la Chiesa costruita adiacente che interrompe la naturalezza della struttura.

Penso sia in modo indiscusso il monumento più interessante e bello di Benevento. Non è tenuto benissimo (andrebbe ripulito un po meglio) ma si può visitare per intero.

vale la pena visitarlo ed ancor più andarci per assistere ad una delle tante rappresentazioni che ancora vi si tengono d'estate. molto suggestivo, una delle rarità meglio conservate in Italia.

Costruito dall'imperatore Adriano, questo teatro è senza dubbio tra i più belli d' italia. Oltre all'imponenza questo teatro rappresenta la storia dell'impero sannita-romano e di tutta la città di benevento. Il prezzo d'ingresso è basso e vale la pena visitarlo. Lo consiglio a tutti i turisti di passaggio nella nostra incantevole città.

Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di visitarlo gratuitamente grazie all'iniziativa del ministero Musei aperti 8 dicembre 2014. Detto questo spiace vedere un pezzo di storia romana così trasandato.L'area infatti potrebbe essere più curata, pulita e ordinata. Peccato anche che nel tempo le strutture private abbiano completamente circondato il teatro e che all'interno del sito sia stata addirittura costruita una chiesa, togliendo a mio parere lo spazio necessario per un'ottimo mantenimento.

Fatto costruire da Adriano e successivamente restaurato da Caracalla , questo teatro é tra i più grandi ( circa novanta metri di diametro ) e più belli tra quelli conservati fino a noi.Era stato completamente inglobato dalle costruzioni ma , dopo un difficoltoso restauro ,ne é stato isolato (resta ancora una casa che vi entra per diversi metri sul lato destro ) .La cavea e la scena sono completamente conservate , e vengono utilizzate nei mesi estivi per spettacoli.Ben conservato il primo e parte del secondo ordine di venticinque arcate ,perso completamente il terzo ordine.
