The miracle of the bleeding holy bread supposedly happened here and still stains from the droplets are visible on the altar. Very nice church and older altars

We were fortunate to be able to visit the Basilica whilst walking the Via Francigena. We were quite late leaving Bolsena, and stopped off to see the interesting interlinked churches. We entered the large church on the right of the complex; this was full of beautiful, large paintings, and had a reliquary of Santa Cristina on the left hand side near a door into a central basilica that felt rather less like a church because of the exhibition stands around the edge. Passing through the basilica there was an entrance to the crypt, which was lit as there was a tour in progress. This had a completely different atmosphere, with a central stone tomb and vaults. At 12.30 the lights were put out and the three churches cleared and locked.

The Basilica is stunning. We paid to visit the Crypt and were given lots of information about Saint Cristina before looking round on our own. Would recommend the visit. Better to check opening times of the Basilica in advance.

A most unusual church which gives onto catacombs and a small stone coffin said to be of an Etruscan Queen who later became a symbol for Santa Christina

Whether you're into Catholicism, Religion or not this is a very interesting part of history which is a definite must see if you're visiting this place. The structure, this story behind it and the atmosphere are part of what this village is today. Very interesting!

Corpus Christi celebration is connected to the veneration of this Church. Also the area around the church is very beautiful

The resting pace of the 11 year old martyr Saint Christina. A beautiful space with some amazing works of art. We happened to be there for the Corpus Cristi celebrations on the 24th of July.

Nice Church - not really a tourist attraction unless you are Catholic. Pleasant bars in the area though...

The basilica is a site of special veneration, connected with 2 miracles. It comprises several interconnected parts: early Christian catcombs, a very lovely romanesque bell tower and then a largely 15c church. Like so many of the buildings in this area it was clearly fairly comprehensively damaged by allied bombings in 1944 but has been sensitively restored and rebuilt.

Festival of Santa Christina is worth visiting in summer with the opportunity to see misteries of Santa Christina

the catacombes were facinating, must do, well worth the few euros charge. The whole church felt welcoming.

This was spectacular - the festa (July 23-24th) was brilliant - a parade through the streets with tableaux. the basilica is lovely on an ordinary day but was beautifully decorated for the festa.

Make what you will of the legends surrounding Sa Cristina but make sure you visit the catacombs. Pay your Euros and a man will unlock the gate.......

It;s history about St Cristina and the Corpus Domini miracle

A very interesting church with a history of developments throughout its existance. The underground catacombs date to the 5th centuary and are a formidable sight [and very cool on a hot day]. The Basilica dates from medieval times.
