Cumil or Rubberneck is a quirky little statue located just off the main square in the city. The locals erected the sign next to him following cars which had ran him over!Generally when you're sight-seeing you're used to looking up at the statue so this made a change to get up close & see him.Nice subject to photograph.

One of four bronzes in Bratislava, Cumil-the-Peeper is perhaps the most famous and most photographed. He's supposed to be a workman coming out of a manhole in the street. Our tour guide pointed him out, and my wife and I took several pictures. As you can see in pictures, the top of his helmet is a much lighter color than the rest of him because rubbing the helmet is supposed to bring good luck. My wife and our tour guide did this, and we have their pictures. I read elsewhere online that you're not supposed to rub the helmet because that's where local dogs mark their territory! Anyway, it's fun to look for the statues in a city with many, many interesting sights to photograph.

Statue is funny, nice, but I wouldn't take it as a city attraction. It is just one of plenty statues. This "attraction" takes 5 minutes to see. Nothing spectacular!

A lovely creative piece of street art! I saw it first from a slight distance and wondered why someone was working at such a late hour on a Sunday night! I love these quirky pieces of art as it keeps you looking around and alert for others when you visit a new city. Be careful walking past him when you've a had a few local brews!

Statue is situated at the corner where "Panska" and "Rybarska brana" streets meet. It is often surrounded by crowd of tourists but taking pictures with him is very popular :-) If you walk round Bratislava old city a little bit more, you will find more nice bronze statues...keep exploring! ;-)

Among with others, Cumil is one of the statues you can see while walking in the center of Bratislava, all popular attractions for tourists.Cumil is of a man peeking out from under a manhole cover. A spy or a voyeur ? :D

Cumil is arguably the most humorous, certainly the most photographed bronze in the Old Town. Bratislava has a sense of humor!

This is one of a number of bronze statues distributed throughout the old town. This 'old man' is cast coming out of a sewer hole, his face smirking and at nearly ground level. He is there looking to see the lovely ladies in short skirts so he can take a peek...Great Photo oppertunity. Yet, if you rub ball at the top of his hat, folklore says you will have good luck in your journey and when you return home. The metal is highly polished!

Cute statue on a streetcorner in Old Town. Not worth a separate trip, though a great photo-op if you're passing by.

This is actually no more than a different kind of statue. It is located on the walkway and it seems like a soldier getting out of a sewage hole. Walk to there just to see it, it's fun. Or even better take a tour that will certainly pass there. Also the only place in town where an official "Men at Work" sign is permanently kept in order to avoid car to run over it as it happened before. Clever move.

We were lucky to find it for the first time without a crowd surrounding it for photos! One of the most famous spots in Bratislava!

It took some time to find Cumil. A funny sightseeing ... brings lots of philosophical issues to people :) I heard various versions from the people around me, while waiting to have some space and make a photos of him.He, like myself, likes to watch the crowd and analyze people :)
