To visit the zoo de Beauval.I drove 1800 km by car and I did not regret it. What I like most about this park is that the animals really have a good life, not total freedom of course, but plenty of space, toys to play and they are in perfect condition. Each animal has a partner and one can see many species which are seldom on display in other zoos. The rarest like Koalas and Giant Pandas are mostly asleep due to their nutrition which gives them little energy, but it is still wonderful to see them. Also there is an important bird-collection and the Palm-cockatoo is very impressive among many others. There were also four rare Sumatra-tiger-cubs, about five weeks old, who played non-stop with mother and a couple of snow-leopards. I understand that many people are against zoos, but very few have the possibility to travel extensively enough to see these animals in their natural habitat, especially children, and to see them and enjoy them is a way to love and protect them and their habitat for future generations.

Zoo was very good. The cost was what I'd expect to pay for zoo entry. They had a very good range of animals including of course the amazing pandas! I loved the fact that they had signs on each enclosure telling you what baby animals had been born recently - the baby tigers and jaguars were great! We were a bit dubious about the bird show but went along as everyone said it was unmissable and glad we went - it was very very good! The only downside was the food - we decided not to take a picnic and buy food there - we bought sandwiches which were nice and not as expensive as I'd expected however the queues were huge! I assume because it wasn't peak season many of the food stalls were closed.

We were staying at Vaas which is about a ninety minute drive from the zoo, but well worth the drive. Entry price was 26 euros, which is roughly the same for Uk zoos. The animals are in very large and adequate areas, and both pristine in cleanliness, and the animals are in very good condition. Whatever time you arrive DO NOT MISS THE FLYING BIRDS SPECTACLE, is is really something not to be missed, when we went it was at 3.30pm so we did have a long wait but well worth it. There are also Pandas, Koala Bears, Big Cats, Penguins, Seals, Manatees, Pirhanas, African enclosure and loads more to keep you occupied. Take a picnic, as the queues are very long for food and drink. The ice creams are worth buying. Please go to this wonderful zoo, you will love it,

Visited on a mixed weather day in August with two young children. The zoo was busy but seemed to cope well with the numbers and all areas were accessible with good views. Excellent tropical house with a great open aquarium which was a good place to be when raining. The sea lion show was popular as was the bird/falconry display which was quite spectacular with the numbers of birds in the air. There are places to eat but for a family of four it would be quite expensive and you can't take a picnic in. If you have a picnic in the car you can go back out if you had your hand stamped but it can be a long walk back, so do the furthest points first. Many people seemed to flaunt the picnic ban with snacks but security did ask on the way in. Interestingly dogs were allowed in on a lead. There is a full range of animals, Tigers, Lions, Pandas, penguins, crocodiles etc.

This is by far one of the nicest Zoo's we have visited. It is so nice to see the Animals, the larger ones especially in enclosures that are cleverly designed so that you can get really close without massive fences (There are ditches to keep them in!)It may be a little 'Higgledy-piggledy' but that adds to the interest as walking about. So nice as well that they have grown and included Animals in Continents. The Panda's are an added interest too.The only disappointing factor is the marine section of the park. Not the best for shows and not even the best show. Been twice, will definitely be back.

This is one of the worst Zoo I have ever visited: extremely poor design, very little by way of finding you way around, no real "theme".

This zoo has been improving the provision for their animals and birds every year. The zoo covers a very large area so is is good to use the plan to make sure you see your favourites. The number of new babies across all the species is a good indication of the care and welfare of the inhabitants. The newish Japanese garden and panda house is lovely. The two pandas were so relaxed and even if they are inside you can still watch them. The same applies to the monkeys and apes. You could spend the whole day watching the monkey young playing. The new arena for the wild bird show is spectacular. They now have many more bird speciesand much more space to work in.It is nice to sit on a bit after the show to watch the way the birds get themselves back to their enclosures. The storks take a slow stroll.

This zoo is great - very similar to Chester. However...manatees - not sure that tank is big enough?!? Warning - you are not allowed to take picnics in but if you are vegetarian or merely want to avoid the excuse for comestibles that are offered for sale you may want to smuggle in some snacks. The food is truly dreadful. When I asked a young man in my dreadful French if I could get a vegetarian meal he apologised in perfect English that he was 'embarrassed to say no'.

We visited the zoo recently with our two small children who both loved their time there. The exhibits all seemed of a good size and none of the animals appeared distressed to our eyes. The zoo itself is over a large area and it is a good deal of walking (especially when pushing a buggy!) over the site.We didn't think that the cost of getting into the zoo was particularly high considering the amount and variety of animals they had there. We took our own food in for lunch so can't comment on what the onsite food was like.We would go back if we were in the area.

We spent a whole day there last Thursday and yes its not cheap for a family of 5 but we all said it was absolutely worth it. As in any zoo some of the animals seemed to be in better conditions than others and there was quite a stagnant water smell near the entrance as you came in. However most of the enclosures were great and judging by the amount of animals that had been born in the past year they are clearly happy and healthy.Highlights would have to be the pandas - the main reason for us going and lived up to all expectations. But the koalas, aquarium, bird show and tiger cubs were also fantastic to see.we ate in the park at the restaurant near the bird show arena and the food was fine. Nothing special but I didn't think it was that expensive and the kids scoffed the lot! Toilet facilities were good, plentiful and clean. As an aside St Aignan where the zoo is situated is lovely and worth a look round.

If you have any doubts about visiting, just ignore them and go! You'll be pleased you made the effort.Yes, we did have concerns about the welfare of some of the animals (the white lion seemed particularly mournful, pacing and roaring), and yes, entry is expensive and yes, as with any park/zoo, the food is also expensive but those concerns aside, it is a brilliant zoo - easily comparable to London and Busch Gardens.Firstly you will need a whole day to see it. There are constant shows and feeding times throughout the day but the park is spread over a huge area which is quite 'hilly' in some places, so expect to walk a lot.The majority of the animals all appear content and healthy and their enclosures are nice and open. Highlights were the rhinos, white tigers, seal lions and pandas but the grand bird showcase involving storks, eagles and falcons was the stand-out spectacle by an absolute mile. If you do nothing else on the day, do this - you won't be disappointed.

Excellent zoo. So much to see. The bird show was completely amazing, I've never seen anything like it. Go early to get round everything. The animals all looked happy, clean enclosures and well cared for. The little Tiger cubs were adorable. My only criticism is that you are not allowed to take your own picnics into the zoo. Yes u can be stamped and go out to sit by your car but it's quite a walk and very busy. That makes for an expensive trip having entrance, lunch and tea to pay for. Well worth a visit and will be returning.

We went to Zoo parc de beauval after being slightly put off by the price initially but knowing that we all love animals we decided to give it a try! We are so pleased we did as we had a really memorable day despite it raining whilst we were there. All the animals were really interesting to see but what we found really amazing was the bird display. We have seen quite a few birds of prey displays in england and have always enjoyed them but this was something else. It's on twice a day and if we had been to the first show rather than the second we would have watched it twice! Make sure you make time to do it at least once! We suggest you sit near the wooden perches that are dotted around if your want it to be even more exciting. Make sure you also go in all the inside enclosures. Don't miss the small things. We loved the manatees but we also loved the garden eels in the tank with the sea horses. We took a picnic but also had gauffres in one of the cafés that were dotted about which were delicious and a good price. Other food looked tasty and reasonable value. We were there all day and just about got round everything except the mini farm so can imagine a two day ticket would be good.
