This is an old castle in the center of town, which I though added to the charm of the castle. There is a nice tour that takes you through a number of furnished rooms. Many had antique furniture and there was some armor here too. The attic area had a large display of household items and clothing displays. You can walk the parapet along the entire front side and around two towers. The grounds were OK, not much garden going on here. There were the remnants of a wall from the 10th century still here that you could inspect. I would make a return visit to this castle. Parking is horrible as there are not many places near the castle. There are plenty of shops in the area and options to eat. Would I visit again? Yes.

One of the many small castle worth seeing in the Loire Valley, at least from the outside as it sits in the middle of Langeais town.A beautiful center piece illuminated at night and a nice walk after fine dining at Au Coin des Halles

When we arrived the chateau was just opening so we were able to view the drawbridge coming down. This is where you enter to purchase tickets. If you purchase the full admission price, you will receive discounts at Villandry, Chinon and Azay-le-Rideau to name a few. There was nothing much to view on the inside but the outside provided a nice view of the city. There was also a wall that remained where you can climb to the top. If you have children, there is a tree house located on the property as well. When we left we spent some time walking through the town.

It's very easy to get to Langeais by train from Tours. 15 minutes by train from Tours-center station and 5 minutes from SNCF station Langeais to castle by foot.Nice exposition of wardrobe. Every room is with written descriptions (Russian included).Don't miss park which is not so big but very nice.Free entrance for girls with name "Anna".

Moving at my own pace, had an interesting history lesson done visually, with signage, artifacts, and reproductions. The castle itself in doable in a couple of hours. Very nice experience. Langeaise is a lovely village with a nearby hotel restaurant for lunch following the tour.

Very interesting history of France. The chateaux and its garden walk with a tale of its history was very well done. Enjoyable visit.

This is an excellent example of a chateau as it would have been in medieval times. It is well preserved and gives incredible insight into life at that time.

Our last visit to this Chateau was nearly 30 years ago, so it was almost a new experience for us. The displays and explanations were excellent easy to follow and very informative. There were a lot of steps, you climb right up to the top towers and down again often on spiral staircases. did my exercise that day!The gardens etc outside were also well maintained and interesting with superb views of the surroundings. An enjoyable afternoon.

If you like tapestry you'll be well away! If you like to see these places furnished-hard luck here! Gardens. What gardens? 2 overgrown flower beds and some worn grass with 2 kids play areas and a tree house. All for 9E each. Robbery.

Not always easy to tell your story - but in Langeais' castle they suceed in making the past come to live. Well done. Worth the visit.

I loved visiting the castles and the small towns. During our 2 day stay in Langeis, we visited 6 castles and it was amazing!

A very attractive Chateau set in the middle of a charming French village. The Chateau is accessed by a drawbridge which is raised and lowered each day at opening and closing time. This is one of the nicest French Chateaux we have visited with numerous rooms open to the public and with just the right amount of furnishings and tapestries to make the tour interesting. Each room has a stand with information cards for that room in a range of different languages. The Chateau was built by King Louis XI in 1460 to establish his authority on the north bank of the Loire. In 1491 the Chateau was used for the secret wedding of Anne of Britanny and Charles VIII of France. This wedding ceremony and the intrigues taking place in Europe at that time are brilliantly portrayed by accurate copies of the original participants and an excellent audio visual presentation in the hall in which the wedding was held. The figures constructed for this display are so lifelike that I could have sworn that one of the figures kept following me with his eyes !!Of further interest at the top of the castle is a superb display of costumes from the early 1500’s. Also, at the very top of the castle one can still walk along the enclosed parapet which offers excellent views of the surrounding areas. Once outside the Chateau one can walk through the terraced gardens and past one of the oldest keeps still extant in France, built in the 11th century, and then into a park that displays numerous paintings of the life of Anne of Britanny. This is an excellent Chateau to visit with numerous rooms and many points of interest available. Allow at least two hours for your visit and photographs are allowed inside without flash. For parking we drove straight to the front of the Chateau and then turned right and continued on for a short distance to park in a compact car park on ones left which is free.

The children enjoyed this chateau because of the great playground. The information in the chateau was interesting but it would be great if the scene that is played out was illuminated on the wall in English.

The Chateau de Langeais is a 15th Century defensive castle. There are some nice exhibitions, especially the tapestries that have been collected (not original to the castle). From the watch boardings, there are nice views of the town and the Loire. As with many chateaus, access is via a spiral staircase, so there are steps involved. A nice visit.

This is a castle in a town not a château standing in its own estate. However, it is set in a beautiful town and was great fun. The castle had lovely furniture and tapestries. But more importantly for our little girl a great selection of period costumes to try on. This entertained her for ages. We then had lunch in the town and went back and explored the Parc which had a great tree house and games to play it was a good half day.
