Thank you very much for your visit. The paid price allows to make the trail of the Pirates (2h), dinosaurs (1h30), the secrets of the castle (1h), trail of the small kids(30mn). You would have of to make the guided tour of the castle (1 hour) which opens you more rooms than on free visit.Concerning the food, the drinks, and the shop, nothing is compulsory. The picnic is particularly appreciated in our very beautiful park.See you again soon on sunnier day.Kind regards,

Thank you for your opinion. During the "Fête des Pirates", the days very festive and appreciated by more and more persons, it is effectively necessary to centre its visit on the festivities. And take advantage of the end of day on trails. Our price lists consumptions are more raised than in town and in the street but answer a price practised generally on all the important touristic sites. You can nevertheless bring your own drinks and picnic, numerous tables are at your disposal. With pleasure to see again you for the fourth visit? Many novelties planned for the next year and the following ones.Best Regards,

Hello ! Don't worry, among our 60 000 annual visitors, most of them are over 5 and aren't in the least bored !When visiting our 86 hectare park, you can do the pirate puzzles trail, a game much appreciated by all age groups. You have to be able to read to do it, therefore little ones, unable to read, cannot manage on their own. Approximately 1 hour ½.You can also learn about the history of Château de la Guignardière : guided tours of the house are included in your admission ticket. Approximately 1 hour. And then, as you discover the roaring dinosaurs, you can enjoy1 hour ½ walk to the neolithic village of Bois de Fourgon to see the only restored menhir alignments in Vendée.Finally, for very little ones, 3 to 5 years old, a playground with activities related to the round the world theme. And you were bored ? With all due respect, we find it hard to believe. The attractions and their themes may not correspond to your taste, but we can't do much about that.As for the old fashioned impression, our policy is to enable families to enjoy a day out with activites for everyone – outdoor activities.New technologies are coming up next year at Château des Aventuriers … but shush !!!!!Regards,

We are sorry to read that you were disappointed with your visit to Château des Aventuriers which includes a guided tour (1 hour) in English of the Renaissance chateau. The fact that on a rainy day the 86 hectare park is under the rain, is beyond our control.A 3 year old usually takes part in the pirate trail. The A!Round the World trail is especially designed for this age group. Moreover, a 3 year old is fascinated by dinosaurs and can have fun making them roar on Dinosaurs & Prehistoric trail. We hope you will come back on a dry day and we are sure you will get a different opinion.Regards

We spent an afternoon there with my children, and it was very fun! We did the pirates' course wich was as great for kids as for my wife and I ! I really advise you to go the castle and the garden are just beautiful, and we spent a wonderful time as a family there! Very nice.

For several years when our children were younger we used to drive past and wonder what went on in this attractive park that happened (at the time) to have a life size model of a polar bear prominent by the roadside!A few years ago we actually went in and enjoyed the adventure trail round the lovely parkland looking for answers to 20 explorer related questions. The trail changes every few years and for the past couple of years has been Pirate themed. In addition this year has also seen the profile raised for the existing "Menhir" trail that takes in several standing stones on the site and now has a separate set of Prehistoric questions (and some smaller than life dinosaur models).A well cared for attraction, the house is also worth a visit (no extra cost) as well if you enjoy such things and guided tours are available (free) in a variety of languages. Modest prizes are earned for the successful completion of the trails and the friendly staff have embraced the "yo ho ho" element of the pirate theme! There is a cafe bar, souvenir shop and a small children's play area as well.If you are in this part of the Vendee and it is a little too cool for the beach, or you would like a change from sitting in the sun, you and your children (5 - 11 ish) will enjoy it here. Like many other attractions in the area it stays open for a little longer than one is accustomed to, not closing until 2100 at the height of the season. And the polar bear - he is still there but moved away from the road!

We visited the Chateau two years ago when the whole family enjoyed the trail on Explorers (usefully, but not intentionally, linking perfectly to a recent school project for the 10 year old). Everyone was keen to go back - so we were astonished to see that the whole trail (20 activities, over the park) had been completely renewed, and not just tinkered with here or there. A whole new series of activities led us to find a Pirate skull and solve the mystery, resulting in a gold pirate medal for both younger participants. The questions are not always easy, even for kids aged 10 and 12 with two adult assistants, but the tasks are absorbing. Geography, survival skills, musical memory and observation are all tested. You are bound to learn something just from going round. Occasionally it helps to read the French version rather than relying on the translation ("which one is missing?" actually meant "which is the odd one out?" in one instance) but this is rare. All questions and the answer books given to all children come in French and English so there's no problem about having to try to work out the French for "pieces of eight".Do remember though to bring a couple of pens. The final code needed is 20 characters long (being made up of all the answers along the route, the first and last numbers being the most vital so don't worry if you get the odd one wrong in the middle somewhere). It's much easier if you write it all down and then match it to the right option. You also need to allow plenty of time. It's a beautiful stroll and no one got bored but even with decent levels of fitness and intelligence it will take you an hour and a half to get through all the puzzles - and if spotting the odd one out, counting precious stones or finding the way through the maze doesn't go right the first time, the trip could extend to a couple of hours very easily. Even as a landlubber, you'll need supplies. As others have said, it's much the best option to bring a picnic. Stop on the way and bring your baguette with you. Otherwise, even to get a sandwich you have to queue up twice - once to order, another ten minutes later to collect - and the quality is pretty dire. Ice creams are also more expensive here than you find on any local tourist beach or shopping centre but some things you just have to accept on a hot day. We've only ever managed the main tour and a quick whizz around the stately home bit of the castle so can't comment on the other trails available but a lot of effort has gone into this place and we all loved it. Highly recommended.

We went at Easter, so not only spent 2 hours on the Pirate trail(clues in French & English), but another couple of hours on an Easter egg hunt. The whole family really enjoyed themselves ( our kids are 12 & 15) as we had a fine day, although we should have got there before lunch & took a picnic, lots of places to sit & eat. We agree that the snacks at the cafe were priced rather steep, and it wouldn't be the same on a rainy day as the only indoor attraction is the small chateau but one of our best days out in the area. There are also trails for younger children but we ran out of time so didn't look at them.
