You can't fail to miss the fortress - easily the most impressive building for miles around. It's quite an experience to go up to the top viewing gallery and literally look down onto the castle on the other side of the river - in Russia. Although (for now) thankfully peaceful you can really imagine how important this place was during its time as a defensive position.

After visiting, I felt the outside was as impressive as the inside. Very interesting articles from long ago. At only 6 euros the admission fee can't be beat! The staff were all very inviting which made me feel more welcome. A must see while in Narva.

Walk in with pet in park and in territory of castle is strongly prohibited. I was there with toy dog, Security staff is active and commanded me to leave immediately

Impressive fortress, and very well kept. A bit dull when you get inside - although the gallery at the top of the Tower was worth the stairclimbing :-)

Our group were guided on a tour that was more like a theater performance. We fought with swords, danced, went through narrow tunnels and enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire at the end. Great experience if you book a special group tour.

Narva and Ivangorod of nowadays are two towns. However in the past they were just one town, with one industry, one cemetery, and one heart. Both towns have a fortress. Narva has one of western european style and Ivangorod - of the old russian type. Both places are very worth to visit. If you are in the area, spend a day or half of it in the area. Explore fortress in Ivangorod, then cross the border by feet and explore the fortress in Narva. Narva has many hotels, so staying here is easy and pleasant. And then you could take a bus from Narva to Talinn or from Ivangorod to Saint-Petersburg. Easy and pleasant stop with lot's of culture.

A great place for an enthusiast of military history with a castle and several bastions to observe. Information leaflets in several languages available from the city tourist info. A great view across the border river and over the riverside parks.

We arrived at Narva and went to the Tourist information centre to find best place for lunch - they recommended the Castell restaurant so we tried it, it was really good. we had lunch outside and service as well as lunch was better than good. At the end of the season watch out for the wasps we spent quite a lot of time chasing them off. We had a 2 course meal and soft drinks the bill was 36.50 Euro. The castle was amazing we could see Russia and the castle on the Russian side of the river, the visit was really worth while. We also took photos next the the large monument of Lennin.
