Walking into this museum is like walking into a wonderland of toys. The toys are displayed in such a way that you actually feel like you're in a little boy or girl's room. I loved that there were places where one could play with different toys as well! The information provided was also interesting and I especially enjoyed that they'd decided to highlight local toy history. There was also a separate exhibition about an artist and her art, but unfortunately no information in english was provided for it.

I am taking a star off because of the lady at the ticket booth. I don't know if she was suspicious of us because none of us had children. I don't know if she was having a bad day. I don't know if we looked unacceptable in some way, but she made us feel entirely unwelcome from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Other museum staff were friendly, encouraging and extremely helpful. The museum itself is awesome. Every room is a wonderland. The layout and design is so delightful. You can walk through and read through all the information as an education, or you can just marvel at the sights. The appeal of toys is universal. There are things that I recognized from my own childhood and other things that were new to me--but it was all great. The upstairs had displays from Estonian stop-motion animation programs. Some of real puppets and props from the shows were there. In addition there was a great collection of Estonian animation DVD's for sale. Surprisingly there were few toys for sale...even of their mascot. Overall we were so glad that we came here.

A little gem, at the edge of the town. Find time to visit it. Very modest entrance fee. See toys and games of old Nordic styles and an excellent electric train set and toy tin soldiers.

We spent an enjoyable hour here with an 8 year old. The museum has an extensive collection of toys from around Europe and through the ages. There is a nice mixture of traditional displays and more hands on activities for younger visitors, with a play room on the top floor where there is plenty for little hands to get to grips with. Your ticket also gains you access to the puppet museum next door, but we were out of time so didn't visit that.

This is a very cute museum that is not only fun for kids (because of all the toys, of course, but also because there is a great playroom at the attic, where children can be creative and play, play, play), but also for adults who like to see retro-toys or simply toys from their own childhood. It is set up very nicely and makes for an interesting afternoon.

If you go there, you become a child again, and it looks just beautiful! I guess it takes more than just one hour if you go there with kids.

Nostalgic place for the ones who have soviet backround childhood, then you can have the I-had-exactly-the-same-toy-feeling. But I guess it is also interesting for others. Lots of different toys from different eras. There's also a playroom for children.

You can see almost every single piece of toys which were produced at Soviet age and even before that. Very interesting place to visit for people, whose childhood was spent at Soviet age. For children, there are also modern toys which can be played with on site. Worth visiting more than once.

Very nice atmosphere. It was like return to our childhood. Museum is suited in Old Tartu Town, easy to find. A lot of exhibitions: marionettes, board games, dolls, mechanics, miniatures, and doll houses. Also you can find here Estonian animation (from 1980). This museum has a play room if parents want to have a free time. Museums employees speaks on Russian, Estonian and English, good service.

It was like return to our childhood. Museum is suited in two buildings. One exhibits marionettes. Other exhibits great amount of different type of toys – board games, dolls, mechanics, ragdolls, miniatures, and doll houses. One section is devoted to animation.

Visited the museum with my kids and wife in July 2013. Great place to keep kids busy of several hours meanwhile allowing the grownups to refresh their childhood memories. It a small but very attractive outdoor playground and well-equipped indoor playground. Both were very much appreciated by the kids. Strongly recommended spot for families with kids between 3-8 years.

Entrance price for adults is 4€, not too expensive for spending a nice time in the old times, without modern technology.I enjoyed looking at the old toys and remembering them from my own childhood. Especially the teddy bears were very nice. i counted more than 130 bears (big ones and small ones)

I went there with a good friend of my and it was such a nice experience. The museum is really cute and it shows the history about the evolution of the toys... They have some really nice things and also toys from all over the world. We saw a lot of kids with their parents and they had a really good time, they have a especial place where kids can play, so if you have kids this is the right place to go with them. Even though I'm 19 years old and my friend is 22 years old, we had really awesome time seeing everything and felling like kids again. <3

I was in this museum several times and every time enjoyed it more than previous one. Made me feel like kid again and also it was huge pleasure to remember times without facebook, mobile phones and internet when kids were just kids and had lots of awesome toys. Exhibition is truly outstanding, staff is very helpful and friendly. Not only kids will love it.
