This was the highlight of the visit for me - but, then I had gone to seek out more about Teresa of Avila. The Museo is well staffed, although it had a long lunch hour & one might not stick around if you have to wait for 3 hours for it to re-open, so it's worth checking on times, etc. At least 2 people spoke some English and the few rooms within the enclosure of the convent was full of interest, with many documents (Papal Bulla). And, outside (& open even when the museo is not) a courtyard to die for - with a diagram in the pavement of Teresa's 7 Mansions! Difficult to leave behind.

I enjoyed visiting the Encarnación more than the other sites related to Sta Teresa in Avila. Long may it remain what it is: a quiet place without pretensions that allows you to come closer to the great writer and mystic. There is a curious museum on the upper floor with fascinating objects and artefacts that all tell their own stories. The single information sheet gives just enough information without overdoing it.

If you only have a limited time, this is the best attraction if you are interested in St Teresa . She spent 30 years of her life here and you can see her relics. The Convent of Teresa is less interestting but worth a visit. be sure to visit the souvenir shop where there is a reliquary with her finger inside.

My visit to Avila in mid-December was more pilgrimage than tourist visit. I've wanted to visit Avila for many years and when the opportunity arose I leapt! We walked down to the Incarnation from the walls of the city. Keeping in mind that the Incarnation is a living monastery I knew that only part of the Carmel I would see would be the museum. Yes, the museum is small but packed with Teresian memorabilia. It was also special knowing that the rooms I walked through were rooms Teresa had been in. The first major room was the former parlour where Teresa had met guests. Upstairs we saw the cell she lived in when she returned to the Incarnation as Prioress in 1571 - that was very special.It was a short visit, but one well worth it. Non-flash photos are OK and there is a laminated guide sheet in English.

To enter the museum, enter the inner yard. They provide you with a laminated guide in various languages. The museum had various exhibits which were very old, and included many things that St Teresa herself used, such as a her pillow, habits, and letters etc. This attraction is interesting if you are fascinated by this sort of thing. However, it is rather small and the visit could be over in 15 minutes. Admission fee: EUR2/pp. ***For the mobility impaired, note that you have to walk up the stairs to buy tickets, walk back down, then enter a room for the museum (which itself has another set of stairs to the upper level of the museum.)

En un principio era un Monasterio de Carmelitas Calzadas, en el siglo pasado fue reformado, para ser de Carmelitas Descalzas. Se puede visita el museo, y la Iglesia, Es imporatnte ver la Capilla de la Tranververación. Y la Virgen de la Clemencia. este año V Centenario del Nacimiento de la Santa, es año jubilar, y se puede ganar en este Monasterio. Tiene u coro que cantan cmo los ángeles.

Local de culto a Stª Teresa de Àvila, numa localidade que nos faz sentir como seria o passado.No conjunto com toda a sua envolvência de história e tradição.

Para quien conozca o quiera conocer mínimamente la obra de la santa es indispensable esa visita . El convento es grande y da idea de la vida monástica en la que empezó Sta teresa y por qué quiso reformar la forma de vida. Se visita un ejemplo de celdas q eran como una espacie de apartamentos donde residían las monjas y podía recibir visitas etc.

Ademas de la visita al Museo, este año se puede visitar la iglesia los viernes por la tarde, sábado mañana y tarde y domingo por la mañana, abierto por voluntarios del V Centenario

Yo soy Carmelita Seglar, así que poder estar en el convento en el que Santa Teresa vivió 30 años de su vida, fue una gran experiencia, en este convento se puede apreciar la celda donde vivió la Santa, así como parte de sus enseres personales que usó mientras vivió ahí y se puede ver algunos de los lugares donde la Santa tuvo algunas de sus experiencias místicas. Simplemente una gran experiencia.

Monjas clausura pero que los domingos en misa 8:30 cantan como los angels..ademas visitas la encarnacion una se las primeras obras de santa telesa ahora en su quinto centenario...y para que lo pases mejor y desyunes bien te voy a recomendar unos buenos bares de tapeo cerca1 bar cafeteria de el lienzo norte ..a 500 metros de la encarnacion n el palacio de congresos tendras una vista explendida del lienzo norte de avila , podras tomar un desayuno tras la misa o tomar la tapa de patatas revolconas tipocas de la zona2 bar el cinco enfrente de la entrada de la iglesia de mosen rubi....ilesia curiosa donde tambien hay monjas de clausura...tapas buenas en un bar tranquiloExcelentes tapas de la ruta del tapeo excelente de santa teresa , para recontituir fuerzas en la visita oeste de avila ....

Localizado fora das muralhas medievais da cidade de Ávila,o Convento Carmelita e o Museu são paradas obrigatórias na viagem para conhecer a cidade.Neste local fascinante viveu Santa Teresa.O Museu está instalado no interior do convento ,onde pode-se visitar seu quarto e uma variedade de objetos usados durante sua permanência no Convento.É um passeio imperdível.

La verdad es que vés 3 salas, y 3 receptorios, pero llenos del simbolismo que conlleva Santa Teresa. No espereis monumentalidad, pero sí historia.
