Housed in a very pretty building, this museum is very interactive and chronologically takes you through the history of Madrid, from Neantherdals to modern times. The garden on the ground floor is quite tranquil, with beautiful Roman mosaics along the walls. It's a large place but only takes about 30 minutes to walk through. Amazing that this is free!

This is very well designed museum for education and general interest. What we found most wonderful were the Roman mosaics rescued from the old Complutum settlement nearby. Gorgeous! The people and animals in the mosaics were exceptionally lifelike. We loved they way there were displayed in this former convent -- the mosaics were on the wall in a beautiful courtyard. The courtyard is used as a public lecture and concert space and later in the week we heard a youth concern there. And its FREE. Nice gift shop too.

The Regional Archaeological Museum is located beside the Bishop's Palace, at Plaza de las Bernardas. It is located in the old Convent of Madre de Dios, run by the Dominican Order, and this was founded in the 17th century by Juana de Mendoza. The museum has displays of archaeology and history. There are paleontological fossils, tools, Neolithic remains, and also remains from the Age of Bronze and the Iron Age. There is also a collection of Roman remains, with Roman mosaics. The time period goes to the industrial era. The museum gets all the important finds from the archaeological digs in the area.

This Museum holds a good collection of prehistoric pottery and Roman mosaics. It is free, and located almost next door to the Archbishop's Palace, away from the crowded Calle Mayor. The Museum itself is a converted church, so it is an interesting setting for the collection. Very educational displays and interactive panels regarding Prehistory and Roman Spain. This is a great place to spend an hour in a lovely area of the town.

Музей содержит прекрасную археологическую коллекцию от доисторических времен до наших дней, в принципе представлена вся территория вокруг Мадрида, а не одиночные местные находки. Неожиданно, но в маленьком городке это музей мирового уровня, хотя зная славу Алькала де Энареса как первого университетского городка Испании, может это и логично. Посетили музей бесплатно, очень понравилась часть, посвященная древним животным. Рекомендую любителям естественной истории.

Le musée présente des collections aussi variées que des fossiles incomplets d'animaux (rhinocéros, bison, ours, éléphant, hippopotame, hyène, tigre à dents de sabre, mastodonte, etc), des silex et poteries préhistoriques, des objets d'époque celto-ibérique ou encore des peintures murales, des bornes funéraires et des mosaïques romaines. Cependant, le musée ne présentent que des objets trouvé dans les environs ce qui limite grandement ses collections. La visite était gratuite (résidents européens ?) et les photos étaient autorisées.

Este museo ofrece la posibilidad de curiosear en los orígenes arqueológicos de la ciudad alcalaína. Se puede visitar en un rato y está bien para verlo con niños. Además es gratuito.Recomendable intentar "pillar" la visita guiada.Por cierto, el edificio que lo alberga merece la pena en si mismo.

Situado en pleno casco histórico, comparte plaza con el Palacio Arzobispal y el Monasterio de San Bernardo. Es gratuito, los lunes cierra y también hace visitas guiadas. Tiene exposición permanente desde antes de la humanidad hasta Madrid y la corte, aparte de la historia del edificio y cómo trabajan los arqueólogos.

en una magnifica ubicacion nos muestra didacticamente una coleccion muy buena. suele estar muy tranquilo, con lo que se puede ver todo estupendamente sin agobios. las exposiciones temporales suelen ser acertadas y muy bien montadas. y ademas es gratuito, ¿que mas se puede pedir?

Si se visita la ciudad no se debe dejar de ver.Es muy interesante, explica toda la evolución de la especie, y con explicaciones y vídeos.

Estuvimos viendo una exposición temporal sobre los orígenes de la humanidad que era bastante interesante. La colección permanente del museo goza de una buena presentación aunque la combinación, en algunas salas, de luz tenue y carteles de explicación de color amarillo con la letra blanca dificultará la lectura de todos y particularmente de personas con una mínima deficiencia ocular.

Para todos en general, y para quienes les guste la arqueología y/o paleontología en particular. Ya solamente el edificio merece la pena, la exposición está realizada de forma muy didáctica, todo limpio, adecuadamente decorado e iluminado. Lo más espectacular, para mí, fueron los mosaicos romanos. Si se quiere ver todo, lo mejor es una visita guiada, y tomárselo con tiempo..., merece la pena.

Suelen tener bastante gusto en las exposiciones temporales y los temas son muy atractivos, además es gratuito cosa muy importante en estos tiempos.
