A very nice and sizeable museum full of the rich history of the US Army Infantry! You'll see and learn things you never knew!

We had a nice day at the museum with our graduating soldier. The museum is very well done with a lot of history to see. The shooting simulator is a must to try as we did with the whole family. The show was very good also in the planetarium. make sure you also go outside to the wall of fallen hero's.

I'm not exactly a history buff, but this museum is beautiful! The layout is perfect, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the exhibits are very informative and eye-catching.

If you are in Columbus, you have to make time to tour the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center. To say it is awesome would be an understatement. It is a grand building right outside the gate of Ft. Benning. There was a greeter as we entered who gave us a map of the facility and information. The area is divided between different eras in infantry history. The is also an Imax theater and windows overlooking the parade field where the new combat infantry soldiers graduate. Entrance is free, but $5 donation requested.

AAA says 1 hour minimum to tour. If you have any interest in American history, regardless of your bent toward wars and military, you will be disappointed if you don't reserve several hours for this museum. There are both some visually stunning exhibits, coupled with extensive collections and historical material scanning all of the major wars, including much of the background behind those wars. There is also a nice exhibit about Fort Benning and the city of Columbus. There are also other opportunities, including an IMAX theatre with primarily historically based movies, and interactive exhibits (most which were down).Even though the museum is "free", you'll probably be uncomfortable walking through the lobby employees without putting down your $5 "donation". But it is worth it and I would put in near the caliber of a Smithsonian museum in terms of presentation. It reminded me a lot of the World War I Museum in Kansas City - again, something you would expect in Washington D.C.

This museum starts it's tour by showing the birth of the American Army from pre-Revolutionary War and gives a very detailed history of all major wars from the Revolutionary to the current Middle Eastern wars. Not only is there a running narrative throughout each exhibit, but there are interactive displays and many authentic Army Infantry weapons, uniforms, vehicles, etc... Outside you will find a scaled down version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a WWII infantry barracks replica and much more. If you are any where near Fort Benning, this is a must see! There is not a fee for this museum but there is a suggested donation of $5 as of this writing (worth every penny).

Great interactive exhibits. This is a beautiful museum and very well thought out presentations. You could spend several hours here.

Really nice museum about US Army Infanrty. Could spend all day there with the IMAX theather that serves everything that a normal theather would. Then upstairs there is a nice restaurant to have lunch after exploring the different wars the us infanrty have taken apart of. Free to enter but $5 donate is asked.

Great visit to see the history of the USA from the start (Revolutionary War) to the current struggles we have. Volunteers were very nice and accommodating. We ended up coming back the next day so we could do the Simulators and Firing Range (those items are closed on Tuesdays) and we were only able to do the Firing Range because the Simulators were broken. There were several things broken - this is why I gave it only 4 Stars. I would have given 5 if most of the things that were broken or down for renovations were working.

This is a must see! Whether you happen to be there or are planning a trip to 'somewhere' keep it in mind! We couldn't see it all in one day and couldn't change our schedule, but we were planning a return trip before we left!! Don't miss it! Bring the kids! It's for everyone! There are 5 different IMAX movies. We saw 'Normandy D Day' and want to see the rest of them!! It was superb!

Definitely a must see when you visit. A ton of interesting diverse information. Something for everyone including children. To enter is just a donation, which I highly suggest. They even play movies. I saw one on Jerusalem.

On a level with the USMC Museum in DC and the USAF Museum in Dayton or the USN Museum in Pensacola. Centered on the infantry soldier from the Revolution to the Gulf War with a little armor and mechanized thrown in. Free, but donations requested as this is a gov't/private consortium. Well worth the visit if you are a military history buff.

Need to spend some time here if you go. Very informative on the history of war in the US. The last 100 yards was incredible. IMAX was interesting too.
