We stayed in one of the cabins. Got to spend the weekend hiking. We were allowed to bring our yorkie with us. Cabin was nice, though I can not recommend the sofa bed in our cabin. We are going back this year! There is a grocery store in town so we were able to buy some groceries. We had a fireplace we could light and a fire circle out front of our cabin. We even met the neighbors in cabin next to us. Really nice folks! We all sat out around the fire talking. Highly recommend the park. Do use some type of bug spray. Both me and the neighbor picked up ticks.

Thick woods just west of the Ouachita Mountains. Beautiful lake.Stayed in the lodge because it was on top of a hill with a wonderful view of the lake. There are also cabins with fire rings down in the woods. To those who were 'disappointed' by the cave --Please look up the difference between cave and caverns :-)This is NOT Carlsbad -- it is a CAVE rumored to have been used as a hiding place by outlaws (hence the name of the park). The top entrance is a bit of a climb. The 'camp store' where you check in has a good supply of most necessities and is staffed by wonderful friendly folks. There is a great museum with displays on both the nature and the history of the area.If you like to hike and explore --- or if you just want to get away and 'hide out' in the woods for a while - this place is GREAT -- and only a pleasant morning's drive from Fort Worth. My wife is from the Blue Ridge Mountains -- and while the altitude is much lower here - the views and surroundings made her feel right at home.

My husband and I came for the weekend. Took a short drive to the cave site. We climbed the steep stairs to the cave, which was marked well with spray paint on how to get there. A little disappointed with the cave itself just because it was small, but pretty excited to be there with the history it held. I would recommend for those who are used to hiking! Has some good views from the top.

We booked two nights at the park for New Years this year. This park is very scenic. They supplied logs for the outdoor fire pits. We used the fire pit for the evening of New Years eve. We took a scenic drive around the park roads and walked a few of the hiking trails and around the lake. The Nature Center is a good place to see what kind of wildlife inhabits the area. The gift shop and a small museum are in the same building. We plan on going again when it is a little warmer to do lake type rentals. There is a small store in the park office but we took our own groceries and prepared simple meals in the cabin.

The cabins are fine and beautiful hiking trails, I think I know all of them after getting lost. Very limited places to eat in town. The cabins would be much better with small things done like cleaning the ceiling and buying new pillows. The fireplace was great and it came in handy having a kitchen with a fridge. I went in early January when it was cold and the forest was foggy and quiet.

Everyone in our group from adult to toddler plus our dogs had a wonderful time. The park is clean and the cabins are clean. Our cabin had a great view. Lots to do at the park, including a nature center that is perfect for young kids, a playground, horse rides, and canoes. Be sure to bring your own food and drink as there are not many options in the area. There is a small store that sells a few camping items like ice, charcoal, zip-locks, etc. They did not carry a lot of food options nor fresh fruit.

Robber's cave state park is a good visit. The trek to the cave is interesting. The cabins in the park are excellent. The lodges are also good (we've stayed in both--take the cabin if you can get it). The park lake is very good for fishing (if I catch anything it is generally a surprise). The town of Wilburton is a hoot. The people are as friendly as you could possible expect. The prices in the town are outrageously low (we had a steak and a shrimp dinner for $27 total at the main restaurant in town). Finally, the skies at night are pitch black. We went to the park the second time to see the Geminid meteor shower and we were not disappointed. The skies were perfect: Even faint meteors could be seen. We traveled about 3 hours to the park (from Dallas) and considered the trip worth our time.

Great place to stay. We really enjoy it in the off season. You can usually get a discount and sometimes you might be the only ones up in the cabins. So if you would like time away from it all I recommend this place. Plus you can enjoy the walking trail to the cave where Jesse James spent time hiding out. They also have a swimming pool and horseback riding.

Although I visited the state park in November it was still busy. Free to visit, unless you are camping of course. Excellent for hiking and taking pictures too. Definitely worth the effort.

We visited this park during the first week of November when the foliage was at its peak! Absolutely breathtaking throughout the park. Great place for hiking and just taking in nature. The rock formations are amazing, the cave is pretty cool, but wasn't the highlight for us. We climbed to the top of one of the higher cliffs and had a picnic for two overlooking beautiful foliage. We plan to go back again for another trip very soon! We highly recommend!

This was my 2nd trip to Robbers Cave and when we arrived, I wondered why I had taken so long to return. It's a beautiful area, full of pine trees and monolithic rocks. The CLIMB to the main cave is just that-a climb. Parts of the "trail" to the main cave you are climbing large rocks with steps cut into them. Watch out for snakes! I almost stepped on a Copperhead snake but stopped my foot mid-air. First time to see a Copperhead in person. Lovely area, we only stayed a couple of hours, climbing around the rocks. Don't miss the "Corral". I've not explored all of the park, plan to do that next year when I return but the main attraction, Robbers Cave, can be hiked/climbed in about an hour.
