dayton courthouse square park

This park is right in the middle of downtown. There is a bandstand, picnic shelter, and playground equipment. The community enjoys the park and someone is usually always there playing, walking. Right across the street is ice cream store, Lupita's Restaurant and Blockhouse Cafe. Nice setting. Nice community!

I spent many lunch hours in this park over the years. The old building is interesting, but the city of Dayton has tried hard to upgrade their park and make it people friendly. It has a nice playground for the,kids, a lovely big gazebo that is used for music in the park on Friday nights during the summer.

3½ dots!This is a true small town community park with a bandstand, playground area, walkways, picnic areas and more. However, the day we were there we were only interested in the historic attraction here - the blockhouse.The blockhouse dates from 1856 and was originally located farther west at Grande Ronde Indian Agency, where it was called "Fort Yamhill". It was then moved to its present location in 1911.We could not go into it but were able to see inside. It is built of incredibly heavy-duty wood construction and was quite interesting.
