This is a great place to take the whole family. Not so far off of the road that you can stop at it when you are on I-80 traveling to Salt Lake City. The kids will love it and the gift shop too.

Usually a choice between or including several interesting shows. A nice arrangement for free parking in a covered lot only a few steps for the entrance.. In addition to the theater seating, there are a number of informative displays that give several perspectives from vantage points outside of earth. We found it helpful to check on the starting time for the various presentations because there is no admittance after a show has started.

This is such a well kept secret and local gem, located on the UNR campus. Check their website for all of the many shows and displays they have as they are always rotating them. It is a great way to spend the afternoon and explore science!

My children and I go here frequently especially in Nov. because it's really cheap (anniversary month).

We enjoyed going to the planetarium at the University of Nevada at Reno. While the theater is small, I found the asteroid movie amazing. The second movie was about star gazing and reminded us of the fascinating sky and star constellations we can see each night. There are a variety of other movies they show here as well. The chairs while older were still comfortable to watch the show. There is also a small store as well as exhibit area We paid $7 for the adult price to go and given the quality of the movie and the price/value I am giving it a very good rating,Parking was in the parking structure. Parking is free. One gets a parking permit as its a University of Nevada parking structure when one pays the ticket price to see the movie,

I took my children for a learning field trip and it was a waste of time and money. The sound was horrible and the picture blurry. The film was incredibly boring. I had even asked if it would be appropriate for my two kids and they assured me it would be. I have been to the Kansas Cosmopshere in Hutchison and this is nothing like that. They had films as well, but they always begin with a fascinating star show. They point out stars and planet, the milky way, etc. The picture is so crisp it seems like you are looking at the night sky. Not at this Planetarium. The ceiling, punched metal, had paint peeling that distracted from the show. Don't waste your time or money!

Small university planetarium it's basically 1 room of models, educational signs and meteor fragments on ground floor, the rest is basement has big planetarium show room for shows every hour or so. The gallery room is free, the shows cost about $7/person. There is nearby parking in university garage free w/planetarium validation, and the student union is about a 10 minute walk nearby for food like Panda Express and other stuff. Friendly staff. Something to do if looking to kill an hour in Reno, NV.

Want to get your kids excited about space exlploration while having fun? Then this is the best place in Nevada to go. After taking my 4&6 year old kids here all I hear about is how they want to learn more about our universe. My son has become inspired to become a scientist so he too can explore and learn more when he grows up. As a mother I am thrilled my son thrives to want to learn more.

Although the Planetarium is quite small, it offers enough exhibits and learning to enjoy if you have family with small children. One fear I always have when going on outings with our small toddler (I'm sure other parents relate to this), is that she'll get lost when there is a huge crowd. It makes it harder and puts me on edge when there are a million things going on from the hustle and bustle of a busy crowded location. The planetarium is fairly small and usually not so busy, so it makes it easier for us to enjoy our time and keep up with our toddler. We don't have to constantly hold her hand, so she gets to enjoy her time even more. They also offer a small theater with different shows playing through out the day. The shows are very informational, and so far all the ones I've watched are very interesting for us, and even for a small child. It's a great place to enjoy a relaxing and fun learning experience.

The planetarium is located right on the Nevada university site and is quite small. Several displays of rocks or minerals had a stand but no information posted on it. We saw a movie about dark matter that was terrible. It was dated, our of focus, and oh so sloooow. I had to force myself to stay awake.

The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.I am in a wheelchair, had two younger children in tow, and they made sure that was no barrier to enjoying the experience. Good value. Great entertainment. We'll be back.

Interesting exhibits and many hands-on activities. Exciting full dome shows! I also love the telescope, open on Fridays. One time, I was able to see several rings of saturn. Love this place.

Free trip that the kids loved. Ask to visit the museum prt only and it's free. The movie cost money.

It's always interesting how few visitors or residents have seen the planetarium on the campus of University of Nevada Reno... even few UNR students we know have gone. It's a great planetarium and the "show" changes on a regular basis. The first time I went, I took my then-4-year-old grandson (known for his impatience and inability to sit through pretty much anything); he ended up loving the hour-long show. I recommend this as an inexpensive, cool, restful way to lean back in the specially-designed chairs and learn and enjoy.

Its very small, not a lot to see in the lobby or exhibit room, but still very nice. Each show is about 45 minutes and only 7$, which is definitely worth it. The show room is small & its not "top quality" footage/display, but its good, very educational and entertaining. If you have an hour or so, definitely stop in and support them.
