Hello,My name is Kristina and I was the camp counselor for your childrens' Zoocamp. I am sorry to hear that your children did not enjoy out Zoocamp. I have to say that this is confusing because all the kids from that Zoocamp were smiling and having a good time. Personally I have been running our zoocamps for three years and I have never received complaints. Below is the curriculum for the zoocamp your children attended:We started the morning by cleaning and feeding our hedgehogs and tortoises. This included all husbandry and discussion about what all animals need to thrive. We cleaned for about fort-five minutes which is part of our normal curriculum. We then had lunch and did a watercolor painting project created by one of our volunteers. After this the kids were given a full tour of our facility. The kids were able to see the entire facility. These are the animals they were all able to physically touch & interact with: Groundhog, porcupine, alligator, fennec fox, kinkajou, wallaby, tortoises, box turtle, Patagonian cavy, opossum, savannah monitor, bearded dragon, Egyptian euromastyx, Madagascar hissing cockroach, rosy boa, Columbian Red tail boa, green iguana, sugar glider, Lionhead rabbit, armadillo, and hedgehog. They were able to hold a hedgehog and our rosy boa although this is not always included in our camps. They were also able to go into the enclosures of our porcupines and wallabys, which is also not included in our camp.I apologize that your children felt they cleaned the whole time and that they learned very little about our animals. We have never had complaints in the past. We have also had rave reviews of how fun and educational are camp is. Sincerely,Kristina Newton(Wild Wonders Zookeeper/Educator) Additional Note from Kimberly Wright, Co-Director, Wild Wonders:Both myself and our director Jackie Navarro were at our facility that day & can attest to the above curriculum/activities. We do wish you would have attended the camp, as often parents do, as we believe you would have had a very different viewpoint. We always strive to provide the best possible experience for children at our 4 hr zoocamps & incorporate as much hands on interaction as possible with our animal ambassadors. We are sorry your children did not perceive the experience as the other zoocampers did that day. (Special note Regarding the registration process): No computer programs are perfect, but I do hope you appreciated that the waiver issue was promptly resolved within a few minutes.

Bought a Groupon for this attraction for my 5 year old twin grandkids. I live in the area and didn't even know it was here! The Groupon was a great deal, by the way. Anyway, upon pulling up to the facility, they had a number of people outside directing you. Once inside they split our group up into about 10 people each which was great. The guides are very nice and extremely informative. At the end of the tour, they bring you into the building and take out some animals and let you touch them and get close. All in all, it was a very nice, personal tour. The facility is spotless and the guides are really nice and knowledgeable about their animals. You have to make reservations well in advance since they limit the number of people.

This hidden gem in Bonsall, CA was first brought to my attention by a local newspaper article, but we finally decided to go when a Groupon was offered. My spouse, two children (6 and 9) and I called and reserved our tour. Our tour guide was excellent. She told the group about Wild Wonders, the rules to keep people safe (no fingers in the cages!) and explained that many of the animals there are rescues from a variety of situations. The stories she told about the animals made the tour extra interesting for everyone. The animals are well treated, fed and treated well by a caring staff. The tour started out with folks hearing about an individual animal and the animal being brought out to display to the group, then the animal was allowed to be petted if the person wanted to touch it There was no pressure to touch the animal if you didn't want to . We saw a variety of animals (some of which I have never heard of before). Our guide was enthusiastic about the animals and the work they are doing at Wild Wonders, and made the tour a great experience for us and the children. Would definitely go back. The staff there does a great job with the animals and the public tours. The tour lasted about 1 hour and 10 minutes. There is walking involved and some short hill climbing (up and down), so wear some good shoes and bring water if it is a warm day.

I purchased a tour on Groupon and it exceeded my expectations! This is truly like going to your own interactive personal zoo, I only wish the tour lasted longer. The staff was FANTASTIC! So friendly, patient with any questions, knowledgeable and really makes sure everyone gets a chance to see the animals up close. I took the tour with my 9 yr. old daughter and she loved it. Being able to touch and pet so many of the animal ambassadors was a great experience. Our tour was with the director and you could tell she loved her job and has a great passion for the animals. I will definitely book another tour and do this again as well as tell family and friends about it...it seems to be pretty unknown as of now. If you are thinking of visiting I recommend you go! The only disappointment you will have is that you couldn't stay longer! Everyone that I noticed tipped after the tour as well as myself. The staff doesn't push anything though which I think is tasteful and appreciated. I've been on tours where you feel like a hostage until the tip jar goes around. I was happy to tip/donate as I can only imagine how much money it must take to feed and take care of the animals!
