On the shore of Clearlake . Beautiful grounds. Lavender garden was spectacular. A must visit when in the area.

While at this winery, I did not sample the wines. Having read about the winery and receiving a recommendation from a local to visit it, I was interested in viewing the grounds and the lavender fields. The lavender fields were in full bloom. The fragrance was subtle and soothing - it was wonderful to walk through this area. The estate setting, along the shoreline of Clear Lake, is impressive, as is it's stated mission "to emulate mother nature" to produce their grapes and other agricultural products. I just couldn't shake the feeling, however, that I was visiting the corporate headquarters of a "Gallo"-type operation, with an organic overlay.

I used to live nearby, so I have been to this winery dozens of times over the years. There is probably no more beautiful place in Lake County to have a winery. The hills, the lake, the vineyards, all add to the ambiance. I am very fond of their reds, big, balanced with good aging potential. I still have some 2002 ans 2005's still drinking beautifully. Not so enamored with the whites, however. They tend to be a little to over powering and the Sauv Blanc always seems to have a little spritz, which is off putting. Gotta love their lavender oils, which are distilled right on the grounds...

We went on a Sunday afternoon as part of a late Valentine getaway. The grounds were gorgeous and we walked out onto the pier and looked over Clearlake for a bit. We went into the tasting room and out of the 5 wines in the tasting only one was "good" in our opinion. The young man pouring was a bit lacking in his customer service and marketing skills, but another employee saved him with her very pleasant demeanor. We will give it a second try, but it won't be our "first stop" next time.

wow wow wow. If you ever wanted the definition of wow factor this is it. The owner has spared no expense at creating a gorgeous location to showcase his wines. We were told that the original permits include a hotel and a restaurant but they have not been built yet. We can't wait! There is limited and exclusive lodging available in the "casitas" for a premium price. There is a long concrete pier with boat access in the summer if you feel like boating over for some wine tasting (do you feel rich and famous yet?) There are gorgeous lavender fields between the pier and the winery that are used in the winery's biodynamic farming. The courtyard is filled with citrus trees in pots and lovely teak tables that invite you to sit with your newly purchased bottle of wine, some cheese from their deli case, and a freshly baked baguette. They also piped in music to the courtyard which inspired my daughter to (briefly) salsa with her ol' mom. Sean in the tasting room should get a raise because he not only (1) sold us a lot of wine, (2) gave us a great tour of the casitas and grounds, but also (3) freely and knowledgably gave us advice on other wineries to visit based on what we liked at Ceago.

We arrived by car after a long drive. Ceago is a beautiful farm and winery on the shores of Clear Lake. It looks like a resort. The wine is wonderful and we are interested also in the olive oil. When we were there 5 years ago, we were very impressed. On this trip we met Nina in the tasting room and tasted five wines. We did not pay the $5 fee for tasting because we bought a bottle of wine. We will be flying home so asked Nina to mail the olive oil we bought. We ordered cheese, salami, and crackers, then sat in one of the shady outdoor "rooms" to wait for friends. We visited with friends we had not seen in five years, drank the wine and ate until Ceago was closing for the day. We had a wonderful time in this lovely winery by the lake.

My wife and I visited this "vinegarden" just a few miles east of our hotel (the Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake, CA). It is beautiful and continues the Fetzer wine legacy into the next generation. Not only is it organic in practice, but it also endeavors to restore nutrients to the soil by mingling other organic operations (chickens, sheep, olives, nut trees, lavender, etc., into an integrative whole. The wine is just great and will only improve as time goes on. The grounds border Clear Lake. The architecture is Mediterranean, like an old mission updated. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

A beautiful setting on the shores of Clearlake with lavendar fileds and a bountiful garden area. The estate was georgous with views of the Lake and a pier jutting out. With out a doubt, the best Sauvignon Blanc you will taste. A must see and taste stop.

Who doesn't like to go wine tasting? From the moment you begin the walk from the boat dock to the tasting room, you will feel as though you have been transformed from this plane to another. In the summer the lavender fields entice you further into the winery. Don't hesitate to visit................kids sae welcome, too.

Very nice buildings with courtyard to enjoy your lunch. You can pick up cheeses and other items at the winery, or order one of their snack plates.

The setting here is loved and Jim Fetzer is carefully creating a destination spot. There is attention to every detail shown. The day we were there Jim was having a group of friends over for a pizza dinner in a setting right out of an Italian villa. Wines are delightful. I can't wait to go there and stay overnight.

Beautiful grounds, great tasting room. Plan to spend some time strolling around and be sure to try their Dry Rose.

We arrived by boat in late June(later found out in Sunset magazine, that it is the only winery accessible by boat in the U.S.). The lavender that greets you on the walk up from the dock was gorgeous, to say the least. The winery itself, is fairly grand with a Mediterranean vibe and very knowledgable staff. They did have a modest tasting fee, but I'm sure it's rarely charged, since a purchase negates it, and after a few pours you're certain to find something you'll want to take home with you. After joining one of their wine clubs, you receive an extra 20-25% off purchases (onsite & online), plus the obvious benefit 3 times a year. It wasn't our absolute favorite wine in Lake County (Brassfield was), but the overall experience was second to none! A MUST do if you're staying in the Clear Lake area.

We love this winery. Tasted ten different wines; five white and five red, all from Clear Lake are. Each taste is very unique. I will recommend this winery to everyone visitnig Clear Lake area. The hosting was so warm, specially we realise that when we went to Napa Valley next day! It was $5 for five tasting and if you buy a bottle the tasting charge is waived. The ladies who were there are knowledgable and pretty good for hosting. The price of wine is very reasonable.

Susan at Lake County Wine Studio told us we had to visit this amazing winery. We were delighted that we followed her advice. The gardens were remarkable, the wine delicious and the overall ambiance was such a treat. The biodynamic philosophy of farming is obviously alive and well at Ceago. Everything growing there was obviously very healthy and productive. The pier, with it's panoramic views of the Clear Lake and the surrounding hills, is a perfect setting for this charming Tuscan villa and its grounds. Be sure to visit the "tree house". I'd love to go back when the lavendar field is in bloom. What a sight that must be! We have already enjoyed several bottles of the wine we purchased. I highly recommend visiting this great place.
