military honor park

Easy access from the bypass entering South Bend Regional Airport (SBN) A fitting tribute to all branches of our Military. Go inside and visit the MUSEUM.

This is a small memorial park by the airport. There is also a small museum as well. For those of us from the South Bend area, it probably has a different meaning than to those travelling thru. My father was a WWII pilot and he has a brick there as do several other fathers of good friends. When I go there it is more personal, to honor my father and show my children and grandchildren his brick. I went into the museum and the day I was there was a very interesting man who talked a lot about his experiences. I think it is taken care of by volunteers but not sure. So should you stop by???? It would depend in your interest in this area. It is what it is. I thank all the volunteers who continue to preserve and honor our servicemen!!

I had taken my 2 children to this park we had spotted on the way to downtown. My son who is 4 years old loves anything military and my daughter who is 2 years old follows right behind him in the love. We arrived and started taking pictures with our kids near the tanks and trucks etc. An older man came storming out of the adjacent building yelling and telling us that our kids had no idea what it was all about and told us we were disrespecting our nations history, he then proceeded to tell us we might fit in better in Russia or Palestine all because we had let our kids touch the vehicles. This was a very disheartening experience, since when is teaching our nations youth about military history such a crime, its actions like these taken by such rude and nasty people that solidify my belief that this country is no longer the same as what it once was . This will be a moment my children and i will never forget, the day we were told by a rude old man that we had no buisness teaching our children about history since they didnt know what it was all about in the first place.

It is a small park, but worth the walk. They did an excellent display of honoring all the wars. It was very moving. The museum was closed as it it only opened on the weekend. We didn't have time to go back. We will definitely go back the next time we are in the area.

I enjoyed it very much. I was a little dispointed that there were not much of WW2 army ground troops. Being a WW@ veteran & going in on Omaha Beach June1944 & a combat Engineer. nothing in the park did I see that we used back than. John Davis Plymouth In.

airports are not too good to waite for a pick up call this is a good free place to waite of a call to pick up your party at the airport . safe for kids

Really appreciate the time and effort put into honoring our vets in all wars. I believe this is an oasis for all of us to take time to remember the lives that have been given for us.
