Lots of activities for kids & adults alike. They do a wonderful "author in the fall" series & have had some well-known authors here (last year was Alexander McCall Smith!). Very helpful staff and very active Friends of the Library group and library board.

Easy to access everything a library has and a pleasant small town atmosphere but new releases are limited

When it comes to a well stocked library in a small city this library will delightfully surprise you. The historical research area is conducive for excellent discoveries of past and present. The rental of movies is an added incentive. The computer area is a click away from researching or just surfing for whatever your needs may be. Very extensive magazine and book selections. If they don't have it available, they can special order it and you can be contacted to pick up that special book you may have been having a hard time finding! Stop in and be prepared to be WOW'ED!

I have lived all over the world and always use the local library for reference, reading and even internet. Alpena Library is the friendliest and the most helpful of any I've ever visited. I really recommend you go and see for yourself.
