Very beautiful walk in the garden. There's more here to see than you can do in a day. Better to do by bicycle. These gardens are just amazing. Love to visit here

This is a lovely azalea garden with convenient parking. Great place to take photos. Best time to visit is in late March/ early April - check current weather conditions so you can hit the maximum blooming cycle of the azaleas. The weather patterns really affect the blooming cycle. Garden has a lovely curved bridge that makes a picturesque setting for family pics.

I guess I went after most of the flowers had bloomed and died down. I was not pleased. I will go back earlier next time. if you just want to go for a stroll it's a good place to go.

Nacogdoches has a number of gardens and walking trails, of which this is one of the nicest. Even in November, Encore azaleas were in bloom as well as camellias. Once the temperature drops a bit more, I understand the Japanese maples will be in full color. It will be worth another trip to Nacogdoches in spring to see the color spectacular.

Spring time would be the most ideal time to visit this lovely wooded, path-filled azalea Garden, to see the flowers in bloom. While we visited in October, and not much was blooming, the tall pine , and well maintained walkways, provided a pleasant place to spend some time. Parking is free and located at the entrance. It isn't a large garden....rather, I would guess about a city block long. Many plants are labeled by the Forestry dept., who I understand maintain it.Very pleasant stop. Allow 15 minutes to an hour.

After a relaxing lunch this is the perfect spot to work off any naughty selections while being outdoors. This garden is chalked full of benches to stop and rest. Or swinging benches for a stroll down memory lane. It is free & gorgeous!

This is definitely worth a stroll when everything is in bloom. As do most locals, we love to take our boys and get pictures taken. It's a lovely place and growing every year.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the garden and about the names and origins of each of the plants. In spite of the rain that began while our group was touring the garden, we all expressed enjoyment of the garden tour and appreciation of the beauty encompassed there.

My husband and I took a road trip to Nacogdoches to see the spring azaleas after seeing a listing in our AAA magazine. We skipped the "official" Azalea Festival since the blooms were running about two weeks behind their normal schedule due to late winter freezes. The wait paid off! While we saw azaleas throughout the town, the Ruby Mize Azalea Garden was unbelievable. We have never seen such brilliant and bountiful colors! Parking was close to the garden, and we were able to walk the entire garden without difficulty (we are in our sixties). We highly recommend a stop here!

Wonderful last week of March 2014. Worth a trip to see the great variety of flowers and flowering trees. The azaleas bloomed later in 2014 than usual, so we were happy we finally got to see them.

Here in time to see a riot of azaleas in full bloom. Such a variety of color and specimens. Peaceful and so nice to stroll through. Picture worthy. All this and at no charge.

This garden is exquisite even as the azaleas were late blooming due to the cold weather. Lovely to walk the trails and smell the fragrances of deep East Texas at its best. Thomas Kinkaide, the Painter of Light, had nothing on these scenes of light filtering through the varied-colored green leaves and the reds of the Japanese maples. A perfect place to take photos. The paved paths are easy to walk and one might rest and contemplate the beauty of nature on a park bench or swing. SFA students have artwork displayed through the gardens. This is a wonderful experience for families, couples, and friends to share. Take a book and read in the shade. Picnic tables are available across University Dr. at Gayla Mize Gardens (entrance on Starr). (We park there and walk over to Ruby Mize to avoid having to get a guest pass.) There are other walking paths to investigate in Nacogdoches. All different; all beautiful!

Absolutely gorgeous when all the azaleas are blooming in the spring. Can't recommend it highly enough....but make sure you check with the SFA Gardens folks before you visit because the azalea bloom dates vary from year to year depending on the length and severity of the winter weather. You will have about a two-week period when the viewing is best.

Absolutely beautiful in the spring and they keep adding to it. A beautiful spot for photographs! Try to visit before spring winds destroy the majority of the beautiful flowers.
