This was a surprise. I learned so much about the quarterhorse. It has an interactive section reared toward children. It also has an audio option to a self guided tour that offers a very in depth look at the people who were a big part of the American Quarterhorse industry. Like any interest people have they are very passionate about what they have done and continue to do make this a respected sport. Great job!

Very neat place with lot's of history and information. It takes you back in time reading all the biographies. If you are a horse/history person stop by. Beautifully done. Very grand.

Horse raising and racing has been an American institution since the first horse was brought across The Pond by the Spanish. This wonderful compendium of knowledge of this sport/pastime is a joy to take in and learn all about the true American Pastime. :) I visited when I went across the country from Maine to Phoenix, AZ. It was great seeing all the breeds of Quarter Horses, the various tools, saddles, and implements used to train horses to race, and many other aspects of horse racing. I am a fan of history and museums, and this was a great attraction to hit on the way across Main Street, America.

Not a horse lover but found it very interesting and I was in awe at the building itself. The displays were very well presented.

This facility is a true tribute to the American Quarter Horse. It has pictures and statues of famous horses and people associated with the breed. A first class place with very friendly people. There are even interactive exhibits for children to enjoy. They have special events for the whole family to educate people and let kids interact with live animals. Amarillo is very lucky to have this nice facility.

Very concise history on these horses. It's probably best for real enthusiasts and not for the smaller kids as the history boards are just filled with facts that will make your head spin. It'll be a once only trip for us but this history is what made Amarillo and Texas so colorful so in that respect it deserves to be visited by all at least once.

We enjoyed spending time in the museum and plan to go back. Learned a lot on the history of the quarterhorse.

As you might guess, you will benefit most from a visit to this spot if you are really into Quarter Horses. There's obviously a lot of money in the Quarter Horse enthusiast ranks. Donations to build this were substantial and The Quarter Horse Association is right next door which may have provided the bulk of the funding. They've got 4 million members so membership fees alone generate a huge annual revenue. With that said, you can be assured of a quality visit to a quality facility.

Every year this show gets better and better! It is almost indescribable the talent that is displayed in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum in Amarillo, Texas! Jack Sorenson, Edgar Sotelo, newbie - Joshua Sorenson and the amazing Tyler Crow! Go see this before it is over. Plan on seeing it next year! You will be entertained with good art and a great museum tour.

Fantastic facility! Friendly staff. If you love the history of horses you can get it here. Displays of Hall of Famers, trophies, saddles, pictures, etc. Allow one and a half to two hours if you want to read everything.Good gift shop.

I'm not a horse person, but I wanted to kill an hour during my business trip and see the sights. It's a small, but nicely furnished museum. There are a couple of educational exhibits for non-horse people like myself, so you can easily spend an hour here. The videos were a bit dated, and could use an update - but I'm assuming they are there for nostalgia. Horse people probably know the old people in them. There is an art gallery inside also for those interested in that. In my opinion, the best time to visit would be when they have a live outdoor demonstration.

This small museum on the east end of Amarillo just off I-40 displays a cool historic time line related to the history of the American Quarter Horse. Inexpensive and worth the trip.

The American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum far surpassed my expectations. As a Quarter Horse owner and lifelong fan of the breed, I expected to enjoy the museum. However, I was not prepared for beautiful buildings, both inside and out, plus the vast collection of historical information and artifacts contained therein. It was fascinating to follow the history and evolution of the breed and association.I suspect this museum may not garner the same level of respect and admiration from the non-horse lovers, but for the price of admission and close proximity to Interstate 40, I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling through Amarillo.
