Fun place to wander around and try to imagine what it was like to travel by rail back in the day. Sometimes it's used as a venue for weddings, receptions, etc. so be respectful if it's in use. The gardens and the pathways around the depot are fun too.

This place was great to take my family to who was here visiting me. The history of the railroad is always fun to see and hear about.

The train depot building was closed but it sure is worth checking out the beautiful vieuws. We walked up and were pleasantly surprised.

After you tour the interior of this classic old station, make sure you make the trip to the top of the tower for an incredible view of the City and Mountains.The Gardens are spectacular.

Having read about the new Sunday History Tours, we reserved our tickets weeks in advance. Eriks Garsvo, the tour guide and creator of the tour, did not disappoint. He is highly informative and entertaining. The tour takes you around the grounds, inside the depot itself, and up to the top of the Bell Tower. The views from the tower alone are worth attending (you can't go up there on your own). Thank you Eriks for a great Sunday outing!

I didn't know that Boise had such a grand train depot. It's up on a hill in a lovely park and a great view of the city. Architecturally, it is worth a look inside and outside with its high bell tower. Be sure to take the elevator to the top for an even better view of the city. What a shame that passenger trains do not come through here anymore from Portland or Salt Lake City. Credit the city of Boise for taking it over, preserving it, and using it for special events. For train buffs and children, the steam locomotive outside is worth a look and a photo.

I did read the reviews before our visit and knew I wanted to time it so we could go inside. It’s a nice piece of Boise/railroad history and it was fun to go up in the light tower. Artifacts were nicely displayed but it was a stretch to spend more than 20 minuets with kids in tow. There is one train to look at outside the depot and the views to downtown are great. But, if you have a train freak in your family like we do they will be a tad disappointed.

Passenger rail service stop in 1997 so what you have is a well preserved train station which = a large high ceiling room with some photos of days gone by. The staff person is very nice and knowledgable. There is one steam engine outside.

I drove by this place for 2 years before stopping by. It's now one of my favorite parks in Boise. I walk my dog here on the weekends. It doesn't look like much when you drive by, but you will be pleasantly surprised! The old steam train is named "Big Mike" and that is the first feature you should see. Next, when the Station is open it is free to tour (check the website for when they are open). They will escort you to the top of the clock tower by elevator for free if you talk to the guides. Finally, the park next to the station is beautiful. It is small, but has multi-tiers with a water features, flowers, and koi pond. I often see people taking graduation & wedding pictures in the park. The view of downtown Boise from this place is spectacular!

Wedding reception at the old Boise Depot. Great room for functions. Lots of historical railroad relics. Nice garden and Koi pond out front with views of the Capitol building, downtown and the foothills. Tours are available and guided elevator to the top of the bell tower. Acoustics not the best as the ceilings are so high.

I attended a wedding here years ago and so we stopped by to take photos of Boise, water feature and train depot this past October. I would recommend coming by when the depot and clock tower are open for touring, we only viewed the grounds as they were setting up for an event. This is great for a visit if you enjoy history, scenic views and have a little extra time in Boise.

This is one of the most unique and beautifully built old train Depots! It sets upon a hill overlooking the city of Boise. The views are fantastic from the Depot and it is a perfect place to take pictures of the city and surrounding areas. The pretty landscaping of the grounds and gardens is wonderful. Didn't get to tour the inside of the Depot, since they were closed when we visited, but they did have an old train engine on the outside with a plaque showing it's history. Definitely worth seeing, if just for the views!

We had half a day to kill in Boise before our early morning flight the next day. It is a nice and clean city and we found this train depot on TripAdvisor's things to do. The depot closes at 5 pm so we could not enter. Presents some good history of railroads in the area.

We brought out-of-town guests here and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The depot has been well restored and maintained. It is attractive and interesting inside and it was really fun to go up into the tower and look out toward the state capitol. There is a beautiful water feature down the lawn with huge koi and very pretty natural surroundings.

What an interesting place to visit. Outside, it's a favorite place for portrait photography, with great outdoors landscaping. The view of Capitol Blvd and downtown is iconic. Inside, one feels like they've just stepped into the early 1900s, complete with destination, schedule, and pricing of the routes of the day posted on viewing boards, available for busy travelers to see. Best if all, admission is free!
