We had visited the home of the Peregrine Fund several years ago and with some extra time in Boise decided to return. A good idea. There is a self-guided outdoor trail that explains the interdependence of flora and fauna - without native plants there are no little animals therefor no food for the raptors. Nice view across the valley. Wish we could have been there when they have the outdoor programs in the amphitheater. The condors in the outdoor cage are amazing. A slow walk by other outdoor cages gave the opportunity to quietly stare and be stared at. The inside is full of interactive exhibits and more live birds. There are regular talks with a bird on the educator's glove. Good family experience.

We had a day to visit sites around Boise. Went to the center of birds of prey. Really nice that they had a good variety of birds. Lots of birds we have never seen or even knew existed so that was really good. The 2 Condors were very active and we sat and watched them for quite a while. The condor cage was nice and gave them a good amount of room to move around and gave a more natural feel for the birds. Disappointed with the "pens or cages " that the other birds are kept in. They could do a better job of having places for the birds to rest on or at least have more natural items in the cages and no fake painted murals on the wall (this is just for people not the birds) . While we realize it takes money to run a place like this and had no problem with the price of admission , we felt like they were constantly "begging for donations and or funding in all their presentations " Kind of a turn off. Overall we would highly recommend going but only once.

The World Center for Birds of Prey is the headquarters of the Peregrine Fund, a non-profit organization that conserves birds of prey worldwide. Visitors learn from live bird presentations throughout the day. Knowledgeable guides explain the heritage of falconry amid exhibits of birds of prey habitat. See a Bateleur Eagle, an Ornate Hawk-eagle and a Bald Eagle along with California Condors. Bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic on the grounds.

Great place for kids of any age. Make sure you go when they are having tours of the re-creation of a middle east birds of prey camp. I am coming back in the fall for the birds of prey exhibitions in the amphitheater.

Based on TripAdvisor reviews, we took our son (26 and visiting from out-of-state) to experience the World Center for Birds of Prey. We were all impressed with their passion for the birds and their knowledge. In the indoor amphitheater, we got to see a staff member holding Gus, who I think was an Aplomado Falcon. It was a sight to behold! We talked to the staff member afterwards. He offered us tickets to come back in October to "Fall Flights" to see the birds flying outdoors. We returned on a beautiful October weekend and got to see 5 different birds of prey flying outside, close to us in an outdoor seating area. Each bird was fascinating in its own way. Each specialist was expert in his/her handling of each bird of prey. We decided to pay the membership for a year. I am looking forward to returning there soon!

Idaho's World Center for Birds of Prey Is an impressive learning, conservation and rehabilitation facility for raptors from all over our planet. If you're a birder, this is a definite must see. If you have children you want exposed to Naure, this is a must- see. If you have any interest at all in learning something new about those fierce birds you see soaring overhead, this is a must- see. This is not Disney. This is Nature, red in tooth and claw. Warning: some of the carrion the birds feast on can smell pretty gamy, but don't be a wuss: go.

The Peregrine Fund is one of the finest conservation organizations to be found and their World Center for Birds of Prey is a must see for local residents or anyone visiting who has some time for a unique experience. The work done at the Center is making a real difference on a global level through their studying, breeding and promoting awareness of all varieties of raptors. The outdoor raptor enclosures feature a number of exotic and endangered birds and the indoor exhibits offer much more opportunity for education and hands on experience. The flight demonstrations in particular make for a thrilling afternoon and really highlight the majesty of these beautiful birds. Don't miss out on the chance to visit the World Center for Birds of Prey!

We have made several trips to this location and have yearly membership to support them. It's especially fun in the fall when they have their flight demonstrations. They bring a few individuals out and allow us to see some of the flight and other behaviors that are natural to the species. It is also interesting to see other live species as well as the displays and info about species in our area. Great to know they are involved in projects all over the world.

A little known place that is a world center for endangered birds of prey. The staff and volunteers make sure you enjoy your visit and are happy to answer questions. Who knew falconry was still practiced? Now I do! Fun for families

On the edge of town. This is a short visit with a guided tour and a self tour. It is an up close opportunity to see these incredible birds and learn about the history of humans and birds working together to hunt.

This is a wonderful place to visit and learn about all types of raptors. A rare chance at seeing California Condors. Great work being done to educate people about raptors and their importance.

People from all over the world visit here, and you should too! Closed on Mondays during the winter, and close at 4 pm, then during spring & summer, they close at 5. Check their website for hours to be current. They have four bird presentations a day where a handler brings out a raptor and talks about that bird. There are live birds to see, a discovery room great for kids young and old where they can dress up as a raptor of their choice, a live cam showing the nest sites of the captive breeding program for the California Condor, a wonderful exhibit about falconry through the ages, a theater for short films and much more. In October, on the weekends (Fr-Sun), they have Fall Flights where visitors are seated outside in the stone amphitheater and they get so see raptors fly free and return. Falconry and conservation at its best.
