We visited the Cannonball House on October 17th and were greeted by a very informative docent who explained about the Cannonball House and some of the history of Lewes. We toured the house and found the exhibits about the Lewes menhaden fishing industry and the bay pilots to be very informative. The docent was very willing to answer questions not covered by the exhibits.

For such a small, little house the displays do a great job of giving visitors a bit of information about the beginnings of Lewes, it's menhaden fishing industry and the current status of things in town. Don't miss it.

The museum was closed but, you could still see the cannonball and the building was very nicely maintained.

A piece of history that makes you realize what life must of been like for early settlers, worth a look.

Their focus on maritime history allows you to focus and learn more in a relatively short time. I found the museum very worthwhile, and the house itself to be a great example of a preserved historic structure.

You step back in time when you visit the cannonball house. It's not that big but if you enjoy history worth the trip.

You will step back in time when you enter the Cannonball House. It is a Maritime Museum with something for young and old. Everyone loves to touch the cannonball which was fired on the town of Lewes from a British ship in the war of 1812. The Cannonball House is part of the Lewes Historical Society and is staffed by volunteers. It is a self guided tour and if you have an interest in Lewes as a fishing port, ship building town, pilots on the Delaware Bay and the lighthouse that disappeared into the sand, then visit the Cannonball House. There is a $5.00 charge for adults, children are free.

There is a $5 admission fee. It's a small historical site largely focus on the War of 1812. I personally never knew about Lewes DE having any part in this so for me it was very interesting.

It was beaut to share history, and Our guide certainly had a love for it.The cost per person was high, albeit it was for a good cause.Enjoyed the local history feel of the building; I thank Our host, a great bloke.

Are you in lewes and looking to find a bit more history of the area? then this is a place with a story! Of course the initial attraction is the british cannonball lodged into the foundation of the house, but the details of the town and it's history are well presented inside. Worth stopping for? Yes. Especially when walking about the town of Lewes and searching out it's beginings.

Before entering the house, we saw the cannonball embedded into the foundation on the exterior of the house. Wow! There was really attacks. It brought the war into fuller relief for me. I enjoyed learning about the lighthouse and seeing the early historical documents significant to Lewes and coming to reckon with its significance within a US historical context.

very interesting if you like learning about the history of the town of Lewes, it's a must stop and see as you are strolly through town. Try to lift the anchor while you are there!

The whole Lewes was not what I expected. There is history, lots of it but much of it is hard to find. The cemetery did not have any brochures so it was hard to figure out why some graves were unique as they had numbers on some of them. It was more geared to gift shops and shops than history. The cannonball house was ok but I found it more interesting to talk to the people running it than the museum itself. Stairs not wheelchair accessable.

Interesting history lesson, when visiting Lewes. Like to take out of town visitors there, and amaze them with the cannonball imbedded in the side of the building.
