Easy parking. Easy to go through. Several periods of military history in chronological order. So many great things have beengiven by individuals. I like models of ships etc. and there are many. The WWII German POW display and information is interesting. In the 1950s, I became friends with two Africa Corpmen who were interned in Colorado and then allowed to stay inthe US. There is a map showning all of the camps that heldalmost 400 thousand German POWs.

Very interesting military museum, with many items (weapons, uniforms, letters, newspaper articles, etc.) to view from the Civil War, WW I, WW II, Koren War, Vietnam War, and the Gulf War. The docent was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a very nice presentation.

This was a small museum in the center of town that had artifacts from every major war we've been in, including the Civil War.. Tours may be given by the founder of the museum who stresses that all the items have been donated to the museum. We stayed over an hour looking at the exhibits and talking about the POW camp nearby and the museum model of it.

I thought I was good at Military trivia.........NOT! The nicest man you could ever meet took my wife and I around that building which covers all wars from the Civil War to present day and explained the items that we encountered. I will have to go back at least ten times to begin to pay attention to the over 4000 items that ALL have been contributed to this museum! That gentleman asked me more trivia questions than I can count but when I "didn't know", he had the answers! Incredible stuff to learn! The museum has all the way from Civil War cannons down to P-38 can-openers! (Pocket gov't issue). Flags, models, swords, guns, uniforms, from all sides of the various wars! This place is a MUST for anyone that wants to see and touch some incredibly rare artifacts from these historical events. It never ceases to amaze me how much Crossville has to offer! Contributions only! Hey! You will want to give to a cause like this. Extremely well done. They "do" need more space though!

Small museum but packed to the ceiling. The men that run the place were very informative. All of us really liked it. So much to see. Don't miss if your in the area.

My family and I took a trip to this lovely museum and had a great time learning about each war. The guides -volunteers from Crossville- were very informative and answered any and all questions we had. They were gracious and throughout the whole experience, we felt welcomed! I would recommend this museum to anyone. If anyone wants to know more about the museum, they have a new website up (militarymuseumtenn.com). Everyone should visit this place!

Very nice museum. Enjoyed chatting with caretakers. A lot of history and interesting facts. Located down town conveniently.

If I had not seen this in Trip Advisor, I would have never known it existed. On our way to Pigeon Forge, we stopped in Crossville. It was Veterans' Day weekend. The many artifacts were interesting and educational. The guide was great and really enhanced the experience. If you enjoy US military history, be sure and visit. Admission is free, but you will want to make a donation.

We stumbled across this while looking for more information after reading their monuments honoring those who had served in various wars--starting with the Revolutionary war. This is a privately run collection of memorabilia donated by numerous different people, both from the area and the casual visitor who wanted to share their stories or their family's after visiting. This is not a sleek, professional museum, but more of a collection of first hand accounts, personal items and reproductions. This to me, made it much more touching and brought the sacrifices and impact of war and sacrifice. Our guide was able to recount first hand reports of visitors who had memories triggered by their visit. We've enjoyed the incredible museums in Washington DC, Gettysburg etc. but this one was very personal and moving. This wasn't just "history", it was the story of people and event.s

The museum is free but the contents you can not place a value. The museum is compact but takes you through American military history beginning with the Civil War to the present. Their are guides on site to answer questions as well. Do not miss it.

What a jewel of a museum, for a town of any size. It's in an historic building downtown and well worth the time for a visit. There is a fabulous display of military memorabilia from pre-Civil War through today, focusing on the history of Cumberland County.Whenever we have visitors, we make sure we take them here.

Well worth the stop! Never knew there was a German prison camp in Crossville during WWII. The tour guide gave us an excellent tour full of info. Civil war though current wars.

This is a fantastic museum, with a collection of artifacts from the Civil War, WW I & II, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. They have some memorabilia you won't find anywhere else. Very well displayed, with sections on each of the wars. All of the over 3,000 items were donated and are in superb condition. You'll want to take your time to walk through and enjoy this place. It's located in downtown Crossville, across from the courthouse. They're only open from 9-3 on weekdays or by special appointments on the weekends. It's run by volunteers, who are very knowledgeable. Bring your camera and the family and enjoy some great historical items. I rate this an A++.

My family of 5 visited this museum while travelling. It was a very interesting stop. It is a small, but well organized museum with free admission (donations are appreciated). All items in the museum are donated and it is staffed by volunteers who act as docents. The gentleman who led our family through the museum was very informative and knowledgable about military history. He was able to answer our questions and provided us with new information. Because we had children with us (ages 7, 4, & 1), we didn't spend as long in the museum as we could have, but still enjoyed our visit. I would recommend calling ahead to check their hours as the information on the website may not be current.
