Took the 2 hour ride in March. The views on this ride are amazing and at many times it felt like we were in an era 150 years earlier enjoying the countryside by horseback. I am an experienced rider, but would say this ride is not for the faint of heart or people who are wary or fearful of heights or horses. I think the management should do a little better job of questioning the experience level of clients and pairing them with the right horse and/or warning inexperienced riders of the challenging terrain. Other than that, it was one of the top 3 trail rides I've ever taken!

Was my first experience ever riding a horse. The people at sombrero were very friendly and helpful for us first-timers. It was spectacular riding in the Rockies, the view was magnificent, and we even spotted some deer. Highly recommended!

This was a great experience ...Deb was fantastic guiding us on a majestic mountain ride...if you ever get the chance these folks will take care of you....and the horses are terrific too!!

My boyfriend and I booked a two-hour trail ride when we visited Estes Park. Winter is a slow season for them, so we lucked out and didn't have anyone else other than the guides on the ride with us. The horses that we rode (Gus and Fritz) were large horses and seemed quite comfortable making their way through snow and up the mountain. The guides chatted some and answered all of our questions, but also let us enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of the ride. There were some spectacular views of the town and the mountains that we would have missed had we not gone on the ride. We even rode up on some deer and elk that were a stone's throw away from us. What a treat! I will definitely book another ride with Sombrero Ranch next time I'm in Estes Park.

My wife and I had a great time and highly recommend Sombero Ranch. Their trails are well maintained (we were in the snow) and we always felt that our wrangler had our best interests in mind during the entire ride. They were prepared for us when we arrived and the internet web site was so easy to make reservations. Thank you Sombrero Ranch for making this a memorable trip to Estes Park!

Enjoyable ride, long and saw so much awe-inspiring beauty.Only drawback is that I felt my horse was too large for me. I'm an experienced rider but my horse was a Belgian draft horse and HUGE for my 5'1" frame. He was amazing in navigating the ups and downs of the mountain trail though, and the staff was probably correct in choosing him based upon his skill set, it's just that I was a little freaked out by his size and would've preferred a smaller horse. I got used to him and once I trusted him, he was amazing. My initial fear was more my problem than his, obviously! Our guide was fantastic, a University of Wisconsin Equine grad, and I loved listening to her stories and descriptions of the surrounding vistas. She kept a good eye on us and when my DH's horse acted up and made my horse buck (I held on and was fine!), she was so attentive and aware. We were the only couple on this mid-September 2014 ride and had the trails all to ourselves. We met another delightful couple from Texas on an all-day ride (our ride was a half-day with steak dinner) when we arrived at the Steak Dinner location and enjoyed talking to them so much. The food was excellent and the staff was fantastic. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Although I'd prefer a smaller horse, mine was amazing at navigating the rocky up-and-down terrain and the staff knows best. The ride provides a most unique perspective of Rocky Mountain beauty and should not be missed.

Found a deal on Groupon for our family to go horseback riding. It was great! Our family of five were the only ones in the group with a guide. We had a blast and went on a nice stroll through the hills. We even had a mule deer join us for a while!

The guide and staff were very helpful and friendly! There were four of us on the two hour ride and we all had an excellent time on our horses in the Roosevelt Natl. Forest.

Faith is an excellent tour guide and we both enjoyed our ride very much. We did the one hour ride, I don't think I could have done much more, a little sore the next day but not bad. Trail is well worn. Lots of uphill and downhill. Great scenery.

Easy online reservation system. Horses were saddled and ready to go when we arrived. The views on the trail as we went up the mountain were gorgeous. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground and we hit a few slippery spots, but the horses were steady and sure. Fun, sweet guide who chatted about various horses and her background as well as highlights on the trail. Well worth the time and money.

Ruger was very sure footed on the icy, snowy, muddy path. It was quite impressive. Zoey was a great wrangler, making all the riders feel safe and like they were doing well. The trail had a variety of views considering we only signed up for the 2-hour ride. The day we were signed up to ride originally had 35 MPH winds and I had no problem rescheduling for the next day.

Great price excellent riding trail. Was very impressed with Zoey, she paid great attention to what was going behind her. We had a 5year old first time rider and Zoey made us very comfortable. Thank you for a great experience

Loved the horse ride. Might want to give heads up the trail is very steep and narrow. Horses were well behaved and sweet. Guide was experienced and knowledgeable.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Sombrero Ranch. Both times the staff has been warm and welcoming, the horses are well kept and are very kind and gentle animals. The trails are well maintained and offer beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains. I would absolutely recommend Sombrero Ranch to anyone looking for a very positive horseback ridng experience.
