My husband and I enjoy touring state capitols and this capitol tour did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Dan, was fantastic and such a wealth of information. We learned so much in a short amount of time. We would definitely recommend the guided tour to really appreciate the building and the history of Maine.

I've been going here for 15 years. Love the hand written menu that changes daily and the bread they bake there is amazing. Delicious specialty drinks that change nightly too. Casual dress. Great place. Make a reservation to be sure you get in. Check this place out. Your tastebuds will thank you!

Boo. Hiss. Must close so that a new Era can begin. State corruption includes torture funding (mental health "treatment" that violates both the U.S. Constitution and the UN CRPD). Maine's courts currently contain lawsuits deliberately obstructed by pro-torture justices subjecting one or more witnesses to human trafficking via embezzlement and discrimination at Federally-funded organizations such as the Augusta Housing Authority (via US HUD funding).

This is a beautiful area in Maine. The state house is not fancy, but it is beautiful and simple. We also visited the Blaine House which is next store. Both are free and guided tours. The Blaine House is also the Governor's house. He and his family live on the second floor. On the other side of the capital is a museum that is so worth the visit. It's about $3 admission and has four floors and you can see how the whole state was put together. Fascinating exhibits. If you have a few extra minutes, drive the back roads rather than the turnpike. The views are beautiful.

The structure of the State House is a work of art. Mr. Bullfinch did a great job designing this building. It made this Maine Man proud to walk its halls. The marble and granite makes for a noble presentation. This building was made to endure the test of time. It will endure the feeble battles between political parties.

they didn't explain well, and it wasn't fun to talk about work.

it is a beautiful building, too bad the occupants cannot get together and do some good for the image of Maine

lots of history in the making if you pay close attention and visit while the legislature is in session

We received a warm and friendly welcome at the Maine State House, and we were assigned to an interesting and informative tour guide who gave an excellent tour and took his time answering our questions. After the tour, we revisited a few areas to take more photos. We did not feel rushed, and we enjoyed the classic beauty of the building and the paintings. After leaving the state house, we walked across the parking lot to visit the state museum. Both the state house and the museum were definitely worth the time to visit.

The Maine statehouse is a classic model. There are some guided tours, but a walk-around will suffice if you have been to a state capitol before. There is not too much artwork, but there are portraits of statesmen and a good display of flags. The view from the balcony is quite dramatic. Do not miss the dioramas in the tunnel connecting the state house with the offfice building across the way.

Called in advance for a guided tour. Parking is abundant. The Sergeant-at-Arms actually gave us the tour. He was smart, witty and full of information and war-stories. We visited everything, including Senate and House. We met the Governor and he gave us a signed business card. The building is beautiful and well maintained. Visit the Maine State Museum across the parking lot...well worth the $2.

We found the State House to be very interesting. Being from a larger state we were amazed the access you have to the government in Maine and we were able to ask questions and everyone was very friendly. It seemed more like a lcoal government building than a normally stuffy capitol.
