A tiny little winery tucked along the road. good, CHEAP wine. Most bottles are $10 or under. Lot's of fruit wines, The peach is awesome. Also, try the Bad Cat. The Niagara is the best I have ever had. Better than anything along the Erie wine trail. The port wines are great and now they are just over the state line in West Virginia they are making whiskey...try the Apple Pie grappa. I have been there many times, I always buy a case or more as they give you 10% off on a case.If your looking for a little local folklore, go past the winery less than a mile, on your left there is a red brick church, go into the small cemetery and find the tombstone that is made out of metal and look behind it- you will find that this tombstone was a former drop for moonshine as there is a hatch on the back and the tombstone is hollow!

Wine was super tasty! Lots of fruity wine here and worth the trip. However, the staff seemed highly annoyed that we were even there! It was very bizarre. We asked for a tasting and received no help and was quickly hurried away after trying only a few wines. Luckily, we looked past the rudeness of the employees and enjoyed their wine on their beautiful patio. Wine great. Service not so great!

The setting for this winery is stunning! Just a few minutes drive through the country from Morgantown, it was an enjoyable excursion. The wine a spirit tasting was free, which was nice. Small snacks are available. Fun outing for a small group.

My wife love to visit local wineries while traveling so we stopped by the Fort of Cheat Winery. We visited in Early October and the drive to the winery was very pretty with the leaves starting to turn colors. Once we arrived we were the only people there so we got to taste as many wines and spirits we wanted...for free. We normally don't like the sweet wines, but thought we would try some. They have a wide variety of the sweet from Blackberry, Pomegranate, Pear and Apple. We tasted a couple and that is all we could handle as they are very sweet and that just isn't our preference. Once we moved on to some semi-dry and dry whites our tasting started getting better. We really liked the Seyval Blanc and in fact we bought a bottle. We continued to move on the red wine tasting and we tried about 5 more with the redbud semi-sweet red actually surprising us on how good it was. The other drier reds were very good too. After enough wine tasting we headed out to the deck with our bottle to look over the vineyards and gaze out to a wonderful views. The wind was getting a little chilly so we moved upstairs where we could walk around and see outstanding views in warmer conditions. After another glass of our wine we heading back down to move on to the moonshine tasting. Make sure you are done with wine tasting before moving on to the moonshine. The Apple Pie was probably our favorite, but be careful if you try too many it can sneak up on you. The gal who was serving us was very friendly and gave some other tips on activities to do while we were in vacation in the Morgantown area.

We have made many visits to family in Morgantown but this time wanted to do things we had never done before. Choosing to visit the Forks of Cheat winery was a great decision. We went to the tasting room where we could choose as many selections as we wanted for free tasting. We wanted to enjoy a bottle of wine on the outdoor deck overlooking the grape arbors and the"Almost Heaven" mountains. We purchased some packaged cheeses, meats and crackers that are available in the shop. We were provided with cutting board, knife and plates for our wine tasting lunch. This place is not a restaurant but if you want to have a European style cheese, meat, bread with wine lunch--this is perfect. I would recommend taking a bit of fruit to make it complete. We enjoyed the Redbud wine with a bite of chocolate to finish our meal--perfect!I would go here again just to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We had a perfect summer day but it would be stupendous in the fall when this state just glows with color.

Awesome port, chocolate wine, and moonshine. In the summer they open a side porch where you can buy a bottle of wine and enjoy it there.
