We played both the Ridge and Valley courses over two days. Both were in great shape considering it's late November. Greens rolled fast and true. The Ridge course is preferred due to the better views and variety of design although the Valley course is far from a slouch. The staff (starter, clubhouse and grill) were outstanding. Tough to find better. A few suggestions though:1. The drink cart girls were friendly, but just not around often enough. 2. The cart guys were a real disappointment. We are unloading out carts and getting clubs in the car while the bag boy sat in a cart playing on his phone. Not good. Every course I've played on the Trail has been consistently good and a decent value. Oxmoor Valley fits in with that.

I'm from South Florida and my friend is from Arizona. We'll been doing these annual golf outings for over ten years -in the Northeast and very often at Hilton Head. The Ridge course is one of the most scenic yet challenging courses we have played over the years. Narrow fairways, elevated greens, fast greens with 12-13 on the stimp meter. Haven't 3 putted this many in years. If you come to beat the course you'll be disappointed. If you come to enjoy the camaraderie of an old friend and take in the natural beauty around you, you"ll be charmed.

Oxmoor Valley Ridge Course was very challenging with more than half of the holes having uphill approach shots. Large contoured greens made for interesting putting. Attractive layout. Nice clubhouse and range. Greens and bunkers were well kept. Unfortunately, when I booked it 7 days in advance, by phone, the staff neglected to tell me they were about to overseed the fairways, heavily water them, and not cut them for 4 days prior to our arrival. Tee shots plugged in the fairways and they played like rough. I even asked if they had recently aerated, but it never occurred to me to ask if the fairways weren't being cut. Staff was not particularly friendly, as they were at Ross Bridge and Grand National.

This is out third trip to Alabama to play the Robert Trent Jones Trail and Oxmoor Valley Golf Course. The course was in the worst shape that I have ever seen it. The staff is nice, but this course will be eliminated from our Robert Trent Jones trail play. Several others are by far....much better!!!

Very nice course. Not to challenging but not easy at all. There are some very very good views on this course. The fairways are nice, the greens are well kept, and there is not a bad hole on the course. Some forced carries look intimidating but you will find that they are not that bad.

Thank you for playing Oxmoor Valley and for your review on TripAdvisor. I am sorry about your cart running out of power in the middle of your round. We work hard with EZGO to make sure our carts can handle the terrain of our golf courses. Please contact me at jhornsby@rtjgolf.com so I can make sure your next experience is a GREAT one!

...but if you have a choice...play Ross Bridge...it was superb!!! By far the crown jewel of the Robert Trent Jones courses in Alabama. Excellently maintained, extremely challenging and a great restaurant, club house and hotel await you when you finish.

If you are in the area, both the Valley and the Ridge merit a visit. The elevated greens may be difficult for some. Lots of natural beauty to enjoy while you play. Interesting layout and some memorable holes.

There courses are outstanding and a challenge for the average golfer. We have been playing here for 5 years and the service is always top notch. Everyone you encounter is working hard to insure a great experience. If you enjoy walking it is a real work out. Buy a trail card and get great price value or come out on the 22nd of the month where a round only costs $22. Rounds can get into 5 hour range during high demand spring and fall time periods. Try to get an early round and play ready golf. We recommend that those who play country club style golf move up their usual tee. This is not your average flat country club.

Played three RTJ golf courses during 4 day trip, Hampton Cove River, Capitol Hill Judge and the Valley. This was our favorite course. Condition was excellent.

This is an interesting layout with a lot of hills and valleys. And, under normal conditions probably a good to very good experience. However, we played just after the overseeding was completed and a day after a major rain storm. So, driving range was closed, greens and fairways not mowed and it was literally like playing in casual water for 10-12 holes before the course started to drain and dry out. A bit unlucky on our part, but overall the RTJ Golf Trail was a very good experience. Being scheduled to play a different course each day on the trail left one no wiggle room to avoid these types of conditions.

We had a group visiting Birmingham and played two courses at Oxmoor Valley. Both were great. The par three course was played to take it easy after playing 18 holes in the morning. It turned out to be harder than the regulation course but great fun. I highly recommend this place.

A friend invited me to play a round with him on the par 3 course, and I had no idea the treat I was in for. The course is absolutely gorgeous, I felt like I was playing on a professional pga course. Will definitely go back!! Definitely worth experiencing if you're in the Birmingham area.

Probably best not to golf on week-ends. Lots of beginners and play is extremely slow even with the marshals working hard to speed it up.

We played the Ridge, The Valley and the short course. The Ridge has a good handful of elevated greens. You have to club up a lot to reach them. But not much OB and not much rough so if you keep in directionally straight you can do okay. But hard to reach all those greens from below. Greens on the Ridge were better and faster than the greens on the Valley (they seemed as if the had been aerated a few weeks prior). I think the Valley is a bit easier but hard to say I played Orange on Ridge and White on Valley so scored better on Valley. On both courses there is not clubhouse out at 9 you keep going, but they have good "cartgirl" attendence so not a problem. Fresh water on all the RTJ courses etc...Service was good, food in the clubhouse was good. They make good breakfast sandwiches for sure, we skipped hotel breakfast for those.Nice course worth the visit. We didn't play Ross Bridge because it had just been aerated so we passed but heard good things about it.
