Driving to Baler is always both a challenge and a pleasure. It's a minimum 5 hour road trip consisting of all kinds of driving (highway, provincial roads, paved roads, rough roads, zig-zag roads and the lists goes on.) But what keeps me going is the fact that I will be doing two things in Baler, surfing and of course seeing the Mother Falls. It's a 20-30 minute drive from Sabang beach. Some of the roads leading to falls is already paved. Best to bring your vehicle (preferably and SUV) up there if you have a driver that can be left to supervise the vehicle. However if driving a car or you don't have a driver, it is best to leave it near the highway and pay for the parking fee. After that just rent a tricycle going up. They charged us 100 pesos for 3 passengers, one way. Not bad considering the rough roads and is a form of supporting the local tourism economy. It would be an adventurous trek and best to get a guide for first timers. However, for those with courageous aspirations, doing it on your own is no problem at all. The guide just serves as your helper when crossing those rapids. It's also best to bring slippers/sandals with straps. Many lost their slippers while trekking. There are various stores already along the way serving different dishes such as grilled hotdogs, grilled corn, Arroz caldo/Goto (porridge), Turon, Barbecue, etc.Don't take unnecessary items with you during the trek as it may just either slow you down or it might get lost. Remember that you would be needing both of your hands while crossing rapids and slippery rocks. Best to bring only water proof camera and some cash in case you want to buy anything or give donations. The falls itself is always one of my highlights going to Baler. I have been there for 5 times and still want to go back. I spend half a day at least. Taking a swim is nice, cool and refreshing. It's a must see place whenever I am there.

Dangerous trek ahead so be careful crossing the river. Do not go and try to traverse the strong current without a guide's advise. The falls is awesome, worth the trek.

Nice place for trekking but not for motorbikes. Lots of bigs rocks... as in rocky road literally. Much better to rent a tricycle when you go up than taking chances to risk your precious motorbikes like what we did.

The 30-40min trek was manageable. There are some streams to cross so better wear shoes that are comfortable and can get wet. But there are slippers for sale there for P60. Better to bring swim clothes too. There is a shower place if you plan to swim and get wet.

This place can be crowded specially during summer. The water is cool and there are certain parts that are deep (my brother who is way taller than me decided to cannon ball jump near the overflowing part and he didn't even reached the bottom). Best if you try and dip in the river, find a good spot and you'll have an instant jacuzzi of your own

    1. You can rent a tricycle going there from the city proper for 400phpi think that is the lowest... best if you can haggle2. The fee is around 10php + donation for the bamboo bridge3. They sell coconut there for 20php 4. The water is cold and nice :)5. They will check your baggage for inspection beers & foods are not allowed

The long hike going to Ditumabo Falls is so exhausting that our group had to make several stops to regain our energy. The raging stream that we needed to wade through was a tough challenge. We don't recommend bringing toddlers, senior citizens, or people with disability in this trip because it's really energy-consuming and the path is very dangerous. Make a wrong step and you'll end up banging yourself against large boulders and rocks. Ditumabo Falls is truly spectacular. It's one of the best waterfalls I've ever seen. The water is so clean and clear that you'd be totally fine if you choose to drink it. We're seriously coming back to this place.I gave it just 4 out of 5 stars because the waterfalls is being used a source of energy, so there are huge pipes and cemented paths along your way, so it's not 100% natural.

You wouldn't mind the half-hour strenuous hike once you see the falls, and you'd have the strength, and more, to take the trek back, once you have a dip in the cold "pool" to where the falls drop. Get your wet and wild selfies! The authorities should be commended for keeping this spot beautiful and clean, and for a very minimal fee.

Aside from the surfing, this was really the highlight of our Baler trip. If you have a car with you, better listen to the tricycle drivers to just leave it in the parking and just hire a tricycle for P100 / 3 pax. The rough road up is really bumpy and muddy as expected. You can just follow the people going to the falls & not hire a tour guide ( if you're going to the falls alone). If not, just get a tour guide so you can make most of your tour. We got one in the parking area for 600 whole day ( deal covers Mother falls, Balete Tree, Ermita Hill, Quezon's House, Better change your clothes before the trek so you'll be ready to dive and swim as I'm sure you won't be able to resists it when you're there. Its roughly around 45mins trek where you'll have to go through streams of river, rocks and bamboo bridges. The beautiful scenery through the trek will help you forgot how tiring it is. :) On your way to the Mother falls, you'll pass by the baby falls with the water cascade that forms in a heart. Then, you'll just be amazed by beauty of the Mother falls with its ice cold water. :) Take a dip, its worth it.

The hike and river crossing to the falls can be challenging for very small kids and older people, but it is great. The falls is awesome. We went there during year-end and there was not really many people so we got to really enjoy the hike and the falls. I heard that during Holy Week, it can get really crowded, and that would not be fun I guess.

bumpy roads, sharp rocks, more than a kilometer walk, cold streaming water, and after all the aching feet and legs the view of ditumabo falls is all worth it! The water is crystal clear and super cold! Try going here with your friends! the trek is kinda hard, especially for a beginner like me. walking is just fine, but upon reaching the river, and crossing it, that's where the challenge is. While walking, there are some stations that will ask for donations, they said its for the maintenance of the bridge. The tricycle ride from the parking on the side of the road to the entrance of the falls will cost you Php100 (good for 3pax). Php 200 back and forth. You can tell the tricycle driver to wait for you there. From the side of the main road to the entrance of the falls, it's like a kilometer or two distance.prepare your kidneys for this walk, I think I only saw 1 comfort room while walking going to the falls. :)and don't bring to much bags, and if you have a water proof camera, better bring it instead of those expensive cameras that might get soaked in the water. :)

It was a 45 minutes trek before you reach the Ditumabo Falls, tiring but it was all worth the experience because the falls was a beauty its just that if you decided to go for a swim that water's freezing cold!

Been seeing so many waterfalls in my travels and this is one of the best! When you go up here, bring your swimming garments to really have the feel of it. Wear trekking shoes to avoid accident. You will be crossing river. Peebles, stones and boulders are spreading all over and obstructing the way, so wear shoes that fit to this terrain. Don't forget to bring water..Happy swimming!

It is located at a small town around Baler, this attraction is a must-visit in your list if you are a nature lover and an adventurous one. Accessible via your own private vehicle, via bicycle or tricycle from town, this is really worth the trip. You have to endure a few kilometers of rough road and hiking so prepare yourself, be ready to get wet, and endure few challenges on the hike. The trek is relatively easy and the pathways are already fixed by the locals. It has small stores along the way to serve as stopovers for you to recover your breath, relax your feet, enjoy the view and breathe the crisp, fresh air around. Reaching the falls is indeed an achievement, it satisfies your soul and your nature-loving body. The cold water running down the falls soothes your body from heat and exhaustion that you may encounter on your trek up the mountain. The view is just amazing! It is indeed a spectacular!
