The Marble Canyon Park is in a beautiful setting in a mountainous valley. Great climbing cliffs nearby for the avid rock climber. Two lakes Turquoise and Crown have trout for those who like to fish. The only problem is there is no boat launch any boats must be carried to the lake. This obviously can be a problem for the older fisherman. However for the belly boaters it is great. There is overnight camping available for medium to small units as well as tenting sites.

This area has a significant amount of history. Everything from the 350 million year old landscape, to the microbialites that only exist in a couple of places on the planet (NASA and CSA spent a few weeks each year training and researching at Pavillion Lake every year). If you are travelling through the area, it's worth either a picnic or a couple of nights of camping. The campsite is actually located at Crown Lake, while the bigger Pavillion Lake is where the microbialites are. The campsites are a little awkward. You park on the paved parking area, and each parking space has a concrete stair case that takes you down to the tenting area. Some spots have the picnic table up top, while others are below. So if you have a camper or small RV, you will find it pretty easy to stay up top. If you have a tent, you have to deal with packing your gear up/down the stairsBathrooms are standard composting style non-flushing type. They didn't smell too bad, and was kept with plenty of toilet paper but no hand sanitizer. If the tent pads were set up better, I would have given the rating one more star and if the bathroom facility was better, that would have gotten an extra star as well.Either way, it's a great park and I recommend a visit. Reservation are not taken at this park. So either go mid-week, arrive early to get a spot, or go during off season.

The camping spots are really tight, but good for tents and campers. Pit toilets are clean and useable. Picnic tables are good and spaceous. The lake here is great for swimming boating and fishing. Actually there are 2 lakes, The larger one is Crown Lake, the smaller is Turquoise lake accesssible via a trek through the reeds or a small footbridge. Good for a day or two.

Great spot to do a camp & do a little fishing.Pavillion Lake is a few km down the road and a great spot to pull over, jump in and get refreshed. Research Pavillion Lake as UBC and NASA are doing underwater studies on the fresh water coral in this lake.

Stopped here on a whim while driving from Kamloops towards Vancouver, via Hyw 99. The Turquoise lake is stunning. There are several spots to park for the day (free.) We had a little picnic, took a swim and headed back on the road. Beautiful rest stop!

Marble Canyon, located between Cache Creek and Lillooet, is an amazing one of kind place. Pavilion lake is one of the few fresh water lakes in the world with living coral reefs, and is studied by scientists the world over - including NASA. The huge limestone walls that tower directly above the lakes are beautiful, and offer great hiking and rock climbing for those more adventurous. The "Provincial Park" itself is unfortunately nothing more than a small roadside campground, where you are unlikely to get a campsite if you arrive on a weekend - most sites will be taken up by noisy RVs. It's one of those typical highway side BC Prov. Parks that are best put as better than nothing. The majority of the lakeside is privately owned and populated by cabins/houses - so unless you have a boat you wont be able to enjoy it. There is a private campground that will rent out canoes. If you arrive at the prov. park campground planning to tent, and there are no spots available, continue driving east for a couple of kms (towards Cache Cr.) and turn right on the first logging road you come to. Head up the logging road and find yourself a nice campsite in the woods, free of charge, overlooking the lake and massive limestone walls. One word of warning on the logging road campsites, its is wilderness and during hunting season there may be hunters up there, and last time I camped up there a cougar wandered right through our site.
