The Surf World Museum is one of those places that seems like a cool place to visit but is just a little disappointing. Some of the history is interesting and the information on Bell's Beach is cool but the whole thing just isn't very professional. However for the $12 entry you really can't complain. If you are a surf enthusiast it is worthwhile visiting.

We hadn't visited this complex for a few years and found that the bargains we found before are no longer available. The complex is also a little tired - needs a good spruce up.

Surfing used to be not mainstream – no longer. This is the home to two iconic surf brands – Ripcurl and Quiksilver. It is also home to the Surf World Museum, my destination. Torquay is the undisputed capital of Australian surfing. After paying my $12.00 entry fee, I was embraced in this homage of Australian surfing, with exhibits, a theater and displays of old photos and rare and unique surfboards. It celebrates the Rip Curl Pro event and also houses the Surfing Hall of Fame. I was surprised to see a large section dedicated to American surfing – especially the beginnings in Hawaii. In the theater was a movie called “Surfing 50 States” a documentary of two Australians who surfed in all 50 states. Very well done and quite a laugh.

Admission was kinda pricey for a pretty small museum, but it did feature some lovely photographs and surfboards. A plus/minus option for your Great Ocean Road trip. Bell's beach is much better.

This museum is fantastic, it has such a great collection of surfing memorabilia. Some interesting surf boards and apparel from days gone by. A must see inTorquay

Torquay Surf Beach is also known as ‘back beach’ by the locals. Historically this is one of the places where surfing took shape in the 1950′s. Great waves roll into shore for body-boarding, or paddle further out for the surf waves.Lots of free parking either along The Esplanade or drive down Surf Beach Drive. Follow the wooden walkway over Spring Creek where the locals do some fishing. Walk further along the nature footpath up into the hill on the west side for spectacular views east over Back Beach or west out towards Jan Juc Beach. The sand at Back Beach is soft and clean, with some shade possible if you position yourself under the western cliff face. The beach gets really full in summer, so plan to arrive by 11am. The kids have a great time wither playing in the surf or climbing over the rock formations in the water.

Forced myself to watch the movie - seriously worth it! I suppose an older sutfer would be in "cool" heaven, I was just cold (do you guys have heaters?!) The gift shop was good - lots of reading here - don't forget your specs!!

By accident we found the surf world museum. It is located in the visitors information centre. I was very excited to visit the museum and it is awesome! Very colourful and clean museum. With lots of history and new stuff. Obviously the great 'bell' prize. Lots of surfboard: from one of the firsts to the newest ones. It's not very big though but still you can spend a few hours there wandering around. Really a must see if you are into surf or visiting Torquay! Loved it!

Звучит красиво "музей серфинга", поэтому решила посетить. Но ничего мега примечательного там нет, в основном разные борды и информация о бэллс бич и о серфинге в целом, о его за рождении. Во общем если не ограничены в бюджете, то можете заехать
