We stopped here on our last day for lunch. Although the museum was closed due to being winter, we had a coffee and cake.Talking to the owner he mentioned that this was a good spot for seeing the northern lights, backed up with pictures taken from there, so we decided to return in the evening and have our dinner there too.Being the only guests there felt a bit strange, but we were warmly welcomed and the food was amazing, albeit slightly pricey. Naturally that evening was too cloudy for us to see the aurora, but the food made up for it.Talking to the owner he told us that he bought the place after a fishing accident and was unable to return to sea. The "accident" cost him both legs below the knee and an arm at the elbow, and yet he had the humility to say how brave I was being in the army. Having all my limbs I was very humbled by his comments.Anyone in the area should stop here, enjoy the views across to Reykjavik and out to sea, and definitely the food. I recommend the lamb very highly.

We stumbled onto this charming, quirky little folk museum. Its the real deal. The locals have donated prized possessions which are lovingly displayed in several small buildings. There are a wide range of items from the pre cell phone island radio and switch board systems to fishing boats/ tools to amazingly restored engines to kitchen and school items. The $5 admission was an incredible value especially when we were allowed to walk up into the lighthouse (surprisingly filled with art). It was a quiet day and after we started asking questions, the woman at the front desk took us around and gave us a tremendous insight into Icelandic culture and history.
