Veszprém is a wonderful little town with a perfect location so close to Lake Balaton. Castle Hill is it's most beautiful sight. A really pleasant walk for anyone. Take your time and give it at least half a day!

The old town is a nice jewel, worth for a 2-hour stop to see its beauty. People are friendly, so in case you get lost, they show you the way. The view from the castle is great. Surrounding houses need renovation, overall it is beautiful.

It is a great time to combine your Veszprem visit with the Festival. The castle area has plenty to see and the atmosphere is just great during this event. The city has improved a lot, I haven't been for over 15 years. The market has a great selection of veg and fruits with fair prices. It was more challenging to find a restaurant that you would go for right away if you look for a more demanding option. Just go for more simple options.

Filled with interesting historical sites and museums, one could spend a whole day up here exploring. There are also several restaurants and cafes.

Had really nice views and walks in the well maintained historic city centre.The small wine bar at the bottom of the hill leading up to the castle is a nice bonus with wines from local producers.Hope to come back one day.

A must see of the town always visited by tourists. However the whole castle inside is just a street, with nice buildings, that you cn not see inside. Recently some museums opened. I offer to walk arund the castle instead. It is more scenic form the outside.

Kemeny

One of the oldest part of Hungary. The castle, statute of Stephan the first and his wife Gizella, the fire tower, the prison (still operating), chapel of Gizella (built in the 10th Century) can be seen in one place. Interesting to see.

Lovely view of the town, but not suitable for someone who finds walking difficult. The statues here and in the town were wrapped in black plastic sheeting for the winter.

It's not much money to pay but take it as an adventure to walk up. It will lead you directly to Buda Castle anyways and it isn't really that high. Else, take the buses. Over there feel free to roam the hill and take some scenic photos but focus on the absolute musts and them get back to the Pest side. It's more interesting.

Buy the ticket that gets you into all the attractions - the palace is a living palace where the archbishop lives. Gorgeous private tour in English, amazing rooms, porcelain, art. See where Sissi and Franz Joseph visited. See the other 2 chapels (quick tours) amazing medieval history, check out the main church in the center of the square (St. Michael's I think) and visit a museum where they have religious icons. All for the price of less than $10 it's a steal and a fun walk back in time!

If you expect to visit a castle, don't bother to come here. As with many of the places in Hungary the castle which used to be here has disappeared long time ago and has been replaced by nice 18th and 19th century buildings. If you want to imagine yourselves in the ages of emporess Sissi, it is definitely worth the visit. Stroll through some of the interesting museums, both for ancient and modern arts, but do not expect to see much history which is older than 200 years, except for some minor remains in the Gizella chapel and St George chapel, both not worth the entrance fee, just watch from the outside through the open door.

In the Castle Hill there are good restaurants, and this is a nice place to walk - beautiful small streets, old buildings and temples.

Castle Hill is a small, picturesque area of Veszprem filled with wonderful old buildings, churches, and a stunning view. It's a short walk from the main shopping area of town. It doesn't take much time to see it and it's definitely worth it for the view alone from the statues of King St. Istavan and Queen Gizella. We also enjoyed visiting St. Michael's Cathedral which looks to have been beautifully restored so that even the basement where bishops have been buried are almost like a museum.Stop by the tourist info office located in the square below the hill and pick up a free guide to Veszprem which gives the history, a map and a description of each site.

The statues nearby the Gisella Chapel, and the view of the city are really breath-taking. It is taken care of and really friendly. I did enjoy my stay here.

We hiked up to Castle Hill three times during two nights in Veszprem. Our favorite thing about it was the view half way up the steps. Listening to the church bells in the distance and watching the sun lower in the sky gave us a poignant feeling for the town.
