konuralp museum

Reaching Konuralp is not easy, but if you do get there, its museum and ruins are truly rewarding. The museum is free of entrance fee and stores artefacts from ancient Prusias ad Hypium. Some of the findings from the city are now in the Istanbul Arcaheological Museums, including the famous Tyche statue (a replica is available here too). Still, a lot can be seen in Konuralp - note the beautiful Orpheus mosaic on the lower floor. Marble architectural details are well arranged and labeled in the courtyard. There are also numerous inscriptions and an especially imposing sarcophagus. The museum staff can help you get to the very neglected but still impressive ancient theatre nearby and the ruins of the aqueduct.
