If you come to Ancona don't miss this beautiful Cathedral. The walk up the Guasco hill is very scenic and worth the effort.

A great Romanic Cathedral built on an ancient greek temple. You can visit the crypt and the view from up there is great

We found this an interesting cathedral, not so ornate as many but with much history. Its position is ideal for excellent views and it is on the town trail which guides one to see the sights.

The Cattedrale di San Ciriaco sits on top of the hill overlooking the port of Ancona. If you have walking difficulties then a taxi from the town centre to the Church is your answer as the walk up is fairly steep. It is well worth a visit. The view from the top is spectacular. The interior of the Church is very interesting and very well looked after. We arrived at the time of a lovely Wedding and this made our visit more worthwhile. Do go and enjoy this impressive Church.

On entering Ancona on a cruise ship one of the most spectacular sights is the Cattedrale di San Ciriaco as it stands on the top of the hill overlooking the port and the city. At sunrise the view is spectacular. We didn't make it to the church itself but it certainly was a great sight to see it stand proud as the focus of attention when entering the port.

This is a very old church, built almost 1000 years ago(I could be wrong on that fact). I went here with a local who knew the history, which was what made the church so amazing. Without knowing the history the church wouldn't of been all that amazing, but knowing the history made the chruch amazing. Also plan to spend some time taking in the view, it is quite beautiful.

This Romanesque Cathedral is really worth a visit. It is on a steep hill, the Colle Guasco.Number 11 bus runs but it is a nice walk overlooking the harbour.

Whilst walking around the port you will come across The Cathedral of San Ciriaco. If you have time it is worth a look, even if you have seen dozens else where. You can tell that it has been subject to face lifts & remodeling over the century's from Roman to Gothic facade. The outside is far more impressive that inside. Dont try & park up the hill but instead drive 1km around the port road near Arco Clementino & park there for a few euros

The great position on the Guasco hill, the romanesque architecture, the wooden vaulted inside, the very old marble

I recommend the Blue Guide for this and other sights in the Marche. Number 11 mini bus can take you up or down, but walk at least one way to see the palazzos (some are museums,) and medieval churches and piazzas.

Very beautifully maintained Romanesque church. You can see remains of a paleochristian church through glass panels in the floor.

I'm from this city: trust me, this place has a wonderful sight! If you wanna take your date to a romantic place, that's the place you wanna take her! Beautiful sunsets and magnificent views on the sea are only two of the things that make this place so awesome! Plus, the cathedral is in roman style but it also has rests of a greek temple underneath! And guess what?! It's the Venus' temple, the goddess of love!! So what you wating for? Go see it! It's really worth!

The Cathedral of St. Ciriaco was consecrated in the first century and some suppose that the original church was in the form of a Latin cross from the 8th century. This is a fine Romanesque building of stone built in the form of a Greek cross with a dome. The façade has a Gothic portal, with two large lions on each side. There is a crypt under the left side and the interior has an interesting wood beam ceiling and simple Romanesque features. The church was carefully restored in the 1980s.From this vantage point you have good views of the port, city, some Roman ruins and the Adriatic Sea.Parking at the top is limited but the walk up is rather steep.
