Such a vast collection of ceramics from pre-history to contemporary times. You need at least three hours to negotiate thishuge museum, & not a minute of it will be wasted - the collection is astonishing. They even have a work by the renowned Australian potter Robert Barron, although unfortunately it was not on display when we were there. They display about 5000 items, & have about another 55000 items in storage!

Marvellous and extensive collection spanning centuries of ceramics with an important international contemporary collection upstairs. a sensitively designed building and gardens housing the collection.

The real reason to go is the rich and very well presented collection of Italian renaissance ceramics, especialy the Faenza production. The collection of contemporary ceramics is focussed on Italy, if you are not familiar with Italian contemporary ceramics, this is worth visiting. The rest of the world is not well presented in the contemporary department,The museum is huge, so you need to make a selection. But just include the Faenza collection of renaissance ceramics. It is marvelous.

I went to the ceramic museum expecting that it was small, and not very diverse. When I got there, I realized that it was completely the opposite. The pieces displayed were gathered throughout the ages, and were of so many different styles. I was very impressed when I see types of designs I have never seen before anywhere around the world. The museum is very well-organized, the pieces are all displayed nicely and there are seats to rest every once in a while. The architecture on the inside and outside is beautiful too.Tickets only cost 8 euros, and the staff are friendly and nice.Souvenirs are available when you finish your tour. This museum is definitely worth visiting if you're in Faenza.

This musuem is much larger and more extensive than I would have thought for such a small, off the beaten path town. They have ceramics from ancient times to modern works and not just from the area or Italy. You can easily spend many hours here. Worth the visit.

This is a fantastic museum, with incredible range of both Italian and International ceramics. It isn't to be missed!

Have been here twice. I could never tire of it. Probably the best collection in the world. We were fortunate on this latest trip to see a temporary exhibition of work selected from the 58th International Ceramics competition

We went on a Sunday and website and guide book said it was open at 9.30 but it didn't open til 10.00. That was our only complaint. Marvellous museum with huge collection from pre Colombian until the present. We walked for two hours, went outside for lunch, then back in for another hour. Would have been longer if feet and knees had allowed it. Very very highly recommended for anyone with an interest in ceramics.

We found this museum as we walked around Faenza. I didn't know much about ceramics, and wondered about a whole museum of them. What a nice surprise. The museum is well organized, and the collections from different periods and regions are presented in a fascinating manner. Faenza is a pleasant town, and we enjoyed walking around after our museum visit. Next time we're in the region, we're planning a return visit.

Usually the ceramic sections of the big museums are a bit boring. But this is not the case when you are in a great museum like this, entirely devoted to ceramics, in a city that was one of the capitals of the world in this manufacture. The wealth of the collections allows you to build an attractive summary of the ceramics throughout the world. There is also space for the technological aspect: some well made maquettes of traditional manufacturing techniques illustrate the different traditions in this field. Recommendable.

Clean and quiet with a small grocery store next door and a great restaurant down the street. The street is mainly residential and an easy 10 minute walk to the stazione.

While we stayed at an economical B&B near Faenza in order to take the train to explore Bologna, imagine our surprise to find a world-class museum, featuring ceramics, in Faenza. The museum is very clean, modern and contains examples of earthenware, porcelain and other ceramics from before 100 BC. The scope of the museum defies a brief description but much of the local ceramic industry is represented as well as Islamic, Chinese, Japanese and other selections. The content can be somewhat overwhelming and awe-inspiring, but one can recover at one of the many nearby gelato shops.

I particularly liked the range covered (time period, type and countries). Ceramics is not only dishes, of course. There are beautiful sculptures and intriguing installations. Actually, if you really are a ceramics fan, you can almost spend 3 hours there!
