People usually come here during summer, but I recommend to come during winter. It's one of the best winter scenery of the world :)

To find a natural waterfall in lowland country is really an experience. The river views are gorgeous as is Kuldiga town with its miniature “Venice” and beautifully restored old town. True gem of Latvia!

Very impressive, i would love to visit it on summer when the water is warm, so it would be possible to walk a bit in the water. Overall the view is very beautiful itself

We were in the area, and decided to stop in. There is a nice park, with some chainsaw wood sculptures and the remains of some 19th century canal construction. It would be a nice place for a picnic. It was pleasant and quit. Now I can say that I have seen the widest waterfall in Europe!

On our most recent visit, my husband, 4-year old son and I made our way down to the river side and took a walk across the waterfall itself. I have to say these are the most beautiful photos from our whole trip.

Beautiful river and waterfall. Some might be disappointed of the height of the waterfall. On the opposite side of the waterfall is very nice bridge. To get to the waterfall we used stairs. It is also possible to walk around the bank of the river. There is tiny beach and I think there was volleyball net. I like Venta waterfall!

It might not be the highest waterfall, but in Europe it is the widest. We go there everytime we are in Kuldiga (which is 2 to 3 times a year). If the water is low you can walk along the top of the waterfall across the river. The nicest view is from the castle park. On the opposite side you have a blue flag beach which is popular with locals. This place is absolutely stunning and a must see, if you are in the region. Plan in a view hours and bring your bikini or swimming shorts. You will not regret it.

... but what else can you do in Kuldiga? Of course, this waterfall is the main highlight in this town and therefore it is important to see it.

This waterfall was just a part of my visit to my girlfriends home town of Kuldiga. It is a very nice sight and the Old Bridge which is just a heads turn to the left looks great at night all lit up. We were there for the Kuldiga Festival weekend in July 13. Lots of people walk across the waterfall from bank to bank.

Flying fish is something unreal. Lot of forel fish shining on sun, jumping before the waterfall. Jumping out on rocks. You can look at this perfomance for hours. With admiration and with grief.

Very nice waterfall although it isn't very high. Sometimes you can see fish in the waterfall but I was there at the end of April and didn't see any, but I did see fishermen in the river. In the summer, you can according to tourist brochures, stand under the waterfall and get a massage. However, if you plan on coming to Kuldiga just to see the waterfall, you might be a little disappointed, but the town itself is interesting. There are many cycling routes and hiking trails around the town as well as canoe rental places. There are also interesting buildings around the town and for me that would be the real reason to go to Kuldiga rather than just to see the waterfall.

We been there summer 2012, Jurmala camping place girl said: this is nice place and i think you liked. That was true we liked so much, especially old town! feels like you wake up 100 years back, every house in there are old, conditions good and not so good. We living there old loghouse "Aleksis hotel" 3 person 25€/night, clean, night we sleep with open window we listen river sound what goes under our window, and across street was good restaurant Pagrabins more expensive then normal places but that i understand, history. Otherside that building was tourist info. When we go look that waterfall we seen there nice park and bridge was beautiful too

The waterfall is said to be the widest in Europe and it is pretty wide. You can walk along it and reach and even bathe in the water, which I dared not to do even though it was August because it was raining and cold! However, I really loved the view especially of the historic bridge across the waterfall. The waterfall itself is pretty cool and I highly suggest you take off your shoes and walk along it to the other side, it is not really slippery because there is so much water-grass (?) there. Apparently the place gets lots of salmon at certain seasons but we did not and you should explorer the area around it. There is also a nice coffee shop nearby and a place to stay.
