First thing I would suggest management to correct text in English.for example ill give you word "bagging" which actually should be "begging" from woed "beg".there are few other mistakes and it's confusing for english readers.otherwise nice spot to stop and visit while in sigulda and/or turaida

We visited this cave on a cold dreary day during a massive rain shower. This added mystique to the cave and the legend behind it. That of forbidden love, and murder. A real Romeo & Juliette story. But this time it is true! Yes the cave is not set back far, but it means a lot to the local people of Sigulda area. So that is enough to make it a pleasant stop for tourist to learn some of the history of Latvia. There are some lovely large open lawn areas out in front of the cave for you to relax on a nice sunny day...

It's the largest cave in Baltics, through it's not large in the world scale. But it has a historical background - one of the oldest tourism objects in Latvia (there are preserved engraved names and coats of arms from 19th century and older) and one of the most tragic love stories (a legend). Although it's not a huge place, it's worth to visit!

Nice little stop off point if you're cycling round, otherwise not an awful lot to see here, plenty to read about though.

We expect to see big cave. Gutmanis cave is nice, but not big. You can read story and legend about the cave. That is nice.

It was significant monument . There was inside flowing mountain little river, here you can put your feet and refresh during hot summer day.

This so-called "Cave" is but a joke! Definitely over-hyped as is the entirePark & Castle. Don't waste your time.

.... and do tour no. 1 reccomended by the tourist information. It makes you pass by this cave and as well the devil's cliffs. Additionally you get to ride along the River and enjoy this outstanding national park.

We stopped at Sigulda for one night on our trip from Lithuania to Estonia. We didn't expect much, especially after a disappointing ride on the cable car. To our surprise environment around the cave was very pleasant. The water stream washing away the sandstone, names of lovers carved into the sandstone, abandoned stone trail - all make up for a quite unique and delightful experience, especially if you like hiking.

This is a popular stop on the "3 castles" walk, and is obviously a significant monument from a Latvian folklore perspective, but it's not so much a cave as a damp pit in a sandstone cliff about 100m off the main road. The most interesting thing about it is probably the graffiti, some of which appears to date back to the 19th century. It also has a very nice little cafe nearby.Well worth a stop on the forest walk from Sigulda to Turaida Castle, but rather underwhelming as a landmark in its own right

A very nice monument of nature. We enjoyed the walk there very much. There was a pond next to int with nice friendly ducks to feed. A pair of trainer shoes recommended for a walk, as lots of stairs are in the path.

Nice place with good access, best at may and september. Unique as still used pagan sanctuary, only now under renissance time legend about true lovers. Hurry to see because water slowly destroy environmental structures from soft sandstone.

After reading that this cave was the deepest in the Baltics & a must visit , I have to say that on arrival I was slightly disappointed with the size of it. Yes, it has a real tear jerker of a legend about the cave but in reality it's not that large . I wouldn't want to put people off visiting as the area around it is lovely but at the same time don't expect to be awestruck by it. Car Park mis opposite & costs 1 Lat .

It is a free, must see attraction if you are in the area. The entire cave wall is covered in graffiti from the 16th century onwards. There are hundreds of names and dates carved into the rock. Next to the cave is a smaller man made cave which is said to be carved out by Viktor, fiance of Maija the Rose of Turaida. He is said to have carved the cave so that she could sit and watch him working in the gardens. Maija was tricked into meeting a Polish noble man in the cave and she was killed here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_of_Turaida So, you have a cave completely covered in carvings and the setting of a famous murder and a Latvian Romeo and Juliet. It is also nice to walk around the gardens if you have time. We took sandwiches and stopped there for lunch.

I had a driver who drove almost all the way up to this cave. He told me a folk tale about 2 lovers as we stood at the "cave" entrance. I really couldn't understand the type to this attraction and would not go out of my way for it. Maybe it makes a nice hike but that is not what I did.
