A Hugh's cathedral you must visit when in Tbilisi! Don't miss out to go downstairs to see the other church space underneath the main space! It's really amazing and unexpected!

Trinity Cathedral or Sameba in Georgian, it was being built between 1995 - 2004. It can be seen from different points of the city, the symbol of christianity and the power of the country

The cathedral is quite new, but worth visiting for several reasons. If you want to reach the place, you must cross a very old and poor area. It is a unique experience in order to understand the old Tbilisi mixed with soviet architecture. The esplanade is just wonderful. From there you get the view over the city which is less "aerial" but more beautiful than the one from the funicular. A second MUST.

I was there with friends on a hot spring afternoon - and it was too hot there: in the yard of the church there's no shade, although the garden is nice, the trees in it are all too short. Inside it does not boast anything special: it's too new to be of touristic interest, and there's too much unused space. The greatest thing about this huge church is the view of it from other places, especially in the evening, when its beautifully lit image stands out on the city's panorama view from Mtatsminda .

I do not know, a country like Georgia, would build this monster building and spend so much money on it. As I heard, the roof of this church is golden, so what the f..k? why god would need this? terrible!

I don't want to be disrespectful, yet travellers definitely don't need go there. It is afar and doesnt worth it as there is nothing interesting inside. Very beautiful structure though and looks very nice from many points in the city. I am just letting you know :) historical churches on the other other hand has a very great vibe and atmosphere, you just can't resist to feel it even if you are a non-believer or believe in an other religion. Georgians generally are very succesful at that :)

Really big, really new and really cold atmosphere. It lacks the charm of the traditional and historical churches, it deserves a visit but it will take you less than one hour. The best: night pics from far distance.

Hidden in the downtown area. You come around a corner in modern Tbilisi and you are in the past. Lovely.

I took the metro here, as I did to all the places that I visited in Tbilisi. Walked through some shady parts of town and finally got there. I has a massive yard all around the church. Beggars are everywhere, even inside the yard and church. Relaxed a little at the cafe/restaurant there there and then went inside. Make sure to wear pants because you wont be allowed to go with shorts. Its very decorative inside the church and cool painting, relics and stuff around. Nothing really special but this is the main church in the city and you can see it from anywhere. Worth it if you have some extra time.

Picture a country emerging from 50 or so years of repression and then give these people a little slack. It is hugh, but not beautiful, it is impressive but not ornate. It shows their determination to be a religious people again. I applaud this effort. It was built by sacrifice and determination.

We took a taxi for a few Lari from the old town and walked down. Taxi driver recommended us to try the mineral water. Turns out it was flavored soda. The church sits high up on a hill so offered a good view over the city.

it has been built not long time ego, too big and not very interesting in my opinion, a nice walk around and a nice view of the city from up thereVisited October 2014

Wherever you are in Tbilissi, Tsminda Sameba can't be missed. It's a massive, yellowish cathedral and to our surprise it has only been finished in 2005 or so. one would have thought that people needed other things more urgently after the breakdown of Soviet Russia but well ... religion is powerful and so this has been built entirely by donations. It's quite impressive and the setting a bit over town is great for photos.
