As a keen visitor to The Amber Coast, really enjoyed a trip to Gdansk's Amber museum which is scattered across several floors in an old prison tower at the top end of the Old Town's main pedestrian street, Dluga. Some great inclusions including mosquitos, spiders and even a very rare lizard inclusion.

Excellent and interesting museum; the reviews here speak for themselves. Amber was extremely important to Gdansk and is still one of the most sought-after souvenirs to take from the city. It would do that person well to learn something about that beautiful rock coined 'Baltic Gold' and be able to explain it to friends back home.

beautifully restored buildingmuch more interesting than i expectedi knew nothing about amber prior to our visitmy wife and spent an hour or so looking the exhibitswell laid outlots of steps as others have mentioned no effort to sell amber which was refreshing

This is a small but very interesting museum about the history of Amber. There are some nice examples of amber with fossils inside and there are some interactive displays as well. The entrance fee is very minimal so if you have half an hour to an hour, its well worth a look. As others have noted, there are lots of stairs so not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

This has some beautiful artefacts inside it and I thought it was well set out. be prepared for lots, and lots of stairs though!

The museum is very well organized; you start with basics on amber (biology, geology, chemistry), all nicely shown (there's even a microscope and interactive screens), and of course amber from all over the world - one is almost 10kg, other has a lizard inside! Then, you go through different types of joulery and decorations grom different times. And at the end you can visit torture and prisin chambers - the building's first 'job'. It's a must see in Gdansk.

Myself and my husband passed this today and decided to go in and at we paid 10 zloty each to get in so about 4 pounds in totalIt's bigger than you think from the outside and shows you all the amber fossils with bugs inside then it shows you the prisons and the canonsWe probably spent about half hour in there and there is a toilet insideThere are a few steep steps so not good for anyone with mobility issues

How could a "piece of stone" be used on so variable ways? Clothes, music instrument, avarage houshold objects (e.g.cup) besides amazing jewelleries... I was really surprised, how many ways artists and creators could use amber, and how fine artworks they are able to create. Part of the descriptions are only available in polish, but most of it is available in english, as well. An interactive computer presents many geographical and chemical information in several languages, as well, really informative.

A small location for several floors of exhibits. The first floor is more scientific with multiple samples and some pieces under microscope with insects and even a small lizard preserved inside. The upper floors have pieces of jewelery and art pieces showing the multiple ways amber has been and continues to be used. Fascinating examples of art!

It was pouring so we dived in and it's not really that bad. Its only about £2 each so you have nothing to loose. Displays are in Polish and English. The bottom starts with the old days and the raw amber and as you ascend the tower the jewellery and artefacts become more modern. No flash photography allowed but my pictures came out fine. The last part of the museum is dedicated to the building as it was used as a prison and place of torture and execution. Maybe not so good here for the young children! You should manage around it all in about an hour.

Rien d'exceptionnel. Une mini exposition sur le thème de l'ambre. Pas chère. Si vous avez rien a faire pq pas. On as mis 20 min pour visiter.

Wydaje się nudnym muzeum. Ale pozory mylą. Trzeba zobaczyć! Nie był to czas zmarnowany. Ciekawe eksponaty.
