Lots of good trails, some pretty strenuous, and the view is wonderful. On occasion they have night-time hikes and open up park that is normally not open (due to the decay of the flora and fauna on the exposed stone areas). You won't regret visiting this historic mountain.

We enjoyed the 2 nature trails from the Nature Center, the first Rock Outcrop has lovely views back to Stone Mountain and the second Watershed Trail we seen deer. Then the third trail we took was the Lake Loop Trail, great for bike riders, hikers and plenty of families walking dogs. The Lake Loop Trail was big enough for all to enjoy with plenty of seated stops for a break and enjoyed the bridges and old farm shelters along the trail and bird life near the lake. Plenty of parking in all locations and helpful staff at the Nature Center, more information about the Ranger lead hikes to Panola Mountain before you go would have been appreciated as it is a lead time to booking and availability.

I actually did choose the wrong time in year too come here but it is actually a nice park and I will try my hardest to come back during the summer time.

This is the closest state park to our home. We have the yearly parking pass and the archery pass. There is so much to do here. We hike, bike, fish and shoot archery.

Panola Mountain State Park is developing into a first rate outdoor attraction. There have always been trails to hike , a Nature Center, playground and pavilions. But now there is a multi-use paved trail that is becoming a biking and walking destination where you can cover as many miles as you would like through the forest and around Alexander Lake. Also available are canoe, kayak, pedal boats and paddle boards to enjoy. Visit the best secret in Atlanta.

We did the guided full moon hike. Although the moon was not visible until much later we had a good time. The guide shared a lot of information with us about the rock and preserving it's environment. There were good views of the night sky and Stone Mountain and Arabia Mountain. Panola is part of the same granite vein however it is not developed like Stone Mountain and is a different type of granite. Do the hike. The guide said there would be another hike in the fall called Secrets of Panola which will be around the mountain and feature more history such as still sites and cemeteries. This is a nice park. Check the GA State Park web site there are lots of events scheduled at this park to participate in. We also did a bird walk. That ranger really knew his birds. Take water in the summer. It was hot. There is a lake also with boat rentals and bike rentals. This park is connected to the trail system in the area that begins at the Stonecrest Mall. Extensive miles to hike or bike. Very nice.

I highly recommend this park to everybody. There are lots of activities for children and adults alike. Its worth the drive to get in tune with nature and have an inexpensive, great and fun family time. Good place for outdoor celebrations.

I visited this park today basically to trek around.Did not expect too much at first but as I proceeded with the trek, it was like an amazing sight unveiled itself every now and then. The person at the pass counter was very helpful. He asked if we were first time visitors(yes we were) & patiently explained to us all the adventure options available at the site. This was really helpful. As guided by him we took the biking/trek trail to the lake.We did an almost 6.8 miles of trek & the grand finale was the breathtaking view of the lake(lake is also accessible by road but we chose to trek to it). This place is a must visit for all the people who have affinity for nature & calisthenics!!!!

If you want to wander around an untouched wilderness, this is a good place to start...especially if you are a photographer.

We like to go here for an afternoon visit to the playground, to look around the nature center, or to climb the mountain for the view or great kite flying. There is always a nice breeze at the top of the mountain and not many trees. We also recently enjoyed a festival and particularly the tree climbing. My 9 year old is begging to go back!

Playground ok for little kids but the nature & exercise trails are fun for all. The nature center has alot of animals to look at.

This state park has numerous teaching hikes and classes that should not be missed. Take the ranger-led hike to Panola - a protected natural gem - Stone Mountain as it was a thousand years ago. Nice picniking, nature and exercise trails.

Nature can be refreshing to the soul! We thoroughly enjoyed this ranger-led 3 mile hike. Educational and a great workout. Wonderful for young kids to older adults. Beautiful historical features..lakes, granite outcrops, cotton fields, etc.

I went with my family to go fishing on a Saturday during the end of summer and it was a very nice place to just relax and fish and thats what we did, a nice place to be with your family and just have a picnic like we did. I would recommend this to anyone just to have fun.. even if your not a outdoors person.

The kids and I visited in January 2011. We walked trails, climbed Panola Mountain and wished we had our bicycle. It is a very busy area. And it's kind of confusing to find your way around if you are not familiar wih it as it is spread out over a large area. However, the natural programs and view from the top of Panola make it worth a visit. The bicycle paths are also very well maintained. So close to the city, it's a welcome respite from the concrete and steel surrounding it.
