Cuyahoga Falls was so beautiful. The hike to the falls is fun, especially if you choose to climb the rocks and explore. It's a wonderful place for pictures and a fun place to explore the outdoors or even just have a picnic or just find a spot to read.

Took our grand kids Monday (Labor Day) to play in the sprayers. They had a blast! Nice little area with seats and even a little concession stand. There are a couple other little places nearby too. The walk along the river looks nice, but didn't have time to do that. They also had an old car show starting for the evening... really awesome cars!!! Stop by and check it out. There is a little amphitheater there that they do concerts in at times too, would be fun to go to one.

i took my kids, aged 3 & 6 down to the Falls River Square to enjoy the spraying jets on a hot July afternoon. They had fun running in and out of the sprayers. Water gushes out in various heights and time intervals. We brought some cheap plastic cups so the kids could cover the sprayers and watch the cups fly. There is small concession stand where you can buy popcorn, candy bars, drinks and Popsicles. Most items are less than $5. They are a few benches and picnic tables as well. The only negative is finding a close place to park, but it gave my kids and I something fun to do on a hot day!

I have walked along the river and down to the falls as much as the city will permit. Worth your time for hike down the Glen Ridges segment of the river area that cascades its way through many parts of the older downtown area as well as the renovated Front Street region. Continue you exploration along the Gorge River park as part of the metropolitan park system. You will the location of where the city old electrical plant was to be found for many decades last century. I suppose that the city wants you to stay around the shops that are located along the renovated Front Street mall area far from the Gorge Park. I have taken friends from a foreign country to the Gorge Park for hiking. I do suggest that you walk along the river and follow the wooden plank bridge-like walk-way that leads past the Sheraton Suites and up to what was called "the old mill".I believe that you should understand the importance of this place in the lives of people who live here - namely that this Fall River walkway and surrounding river front walking tour of the valley is what connects many residents with the more expensive national parks located far away from here. In other words when residents can't find the resources to travel to those other places they walk along their river gorge park to admire what changes have taken place in their old city to beautify it. I am not saying that Thoreau lived here or that bucolic woods can inspire people to preserve tomato plants in the winter with the help of the norse gods. The working class people here value this area as worthy of their time to preserve and develop. Self pride counts. Bring a lunch and picnic for a short time. Worthy of a few photographs. Visit the shops. Numerous festivals take place here in late springtime and through-out the summer and early Fall for the residents to proclaim pride in their city and area. I would be so bold as to recommend that you take a boat trip along the Cuyahoga River eastward toward the cities of Monroe Falls and Stow or Kent to get the full value of the early reaches of this river that has been here for centuries. Then walk along the Metropolitan Gorge park and visit many places worthy of a post card. Numerous housing opportunities are changing the landscape here so do not put off your visit for too long. Two or three older damns were removed to make the river accessible for people with kayaks and canoes. So now the river is wider and a more fast running river with rapids and some natural beauty. Going here is not the same as visiting natural parks but it has its merits for sure. I suspect that for less affluent people who reside here this experience of walking through the river in the Cuyahoga River connected to the Falls River Square and adjoining valley and Gorge is as good as it might get in their dreams to travel to a national park. Artists have done some good pictures with paints. Visit the local library to see what I am talking about. You will enjoy it!
